Five brothers from Utah watched on as their sister, Kaley West Young, married her now-husband, Andy, on September 22.
According to ABC 6, their father had passed away in 2015, so each of her brothers stepped in to fill his spot during the “father-daughter dance.”
What Kaley didn’t know before the dance took place was the song they choose to dance to.
One of her brothers said:
“It’s every girl’s dream, like Kayley mentioned, to dance with her father. Obviously, she can’t do that with him tonight, but us brothers want her to have that opportunity and we’d like to dance with her for her father-daughter dance. We ask that everybody stay as quiet as possible during this dance to help pay tribute to our father and really listen to the words of this song. It’s a song we want to surprise Kayley with. She doesn’t know that we’ve chosen this song and we hope that she loves it.
When the song began to play and their father’s voice was heard over the speakers, Kaley got visibly emotional.
The song started off with their father saying:
“Hi Kayley. My name is Dave West and I’m Kayley’s dad and I love her very much, 1,800 times worth.”
From there, the song “Fathers and Daughters,” by Michael Bolton began to play. Throughout the rest of the song, the brothers transposed sound from old home videos into it.
What the emotional video below:
The family wrote under the YouTube video:
In 2015 Kaley’s Dad David suddenly passed away from heart disease. Kaley had a very special bond with her Dad. She always looked forward to the day that he would walk her down the aisle and dance with her at her wedding. She was his little princess. Kaley’s five brothers wanted her to still have that opportunity. They surprised her with this song that paid tribute to their Father.
Michael Bolton himself even responded to the video on Twitter, thanking the family for using his song for the beautiful moment.

I’m so humbled and honored that the west brothers choose my song #FathersandDaughters to dance with their sister Kaylee at her wedding. their video brought me to tears.
Kayley admitted to ABC 6 that Bolton’s response “blew her away” and made the moment that more special for her.
She then added:
“This video isn’t about me or my family; it’s about the most important thing in life which is our loved ones. Every single person experiences loss, or will experience loss, in those moments can be deep sorrow and despair. However, I want it to be a reminder that you are never alone. Love transcends beyond the physical body and whoever is going through a great loss, no matter what it may be, you are never alone and you are loved.”
