Laura Browning Grant, a pilates instructor, married Jonathan Grant at her dream wedding in 2012. Jonathan is an experienced Navy SEAL, who was deployed to Iraq twice and Yemen once during his time in active service.
They lived happily together in their Virginia home. But everything came to a screeching halt in March when the Navy SEAL got into a serious car accident.
Jonathan was returning home from North Carolina in a car with some friends when the devastating crash happened, according to Yahoo News.
His injuries caused bleeding in his brain that was so bad, it “left him in a coma.” He also had “cuts and bruises to his face, arms, and legs,” reported Cosmopolitan.
It was almost enough to take his life.
But remarkably, the Navy SEAL survived.
Laura was devastated by the accident, which took place just before their fifth anniversary. She told Cosmopolitan:
“I went into shock mode, thinking, ‘Tomorrow he is going to wake up and be fine and walk again.'”
The Navy SEAL’s wife never left his side, but it would be some time before Jonathan awoke from his coma. He was eventually moved to a rehabilitation in Richmond and “fully emerged” from his coma in May.

How is Jon doing? Well let's just say each day he shows new signs of healing & progress. Through God all things are possible. This week I have found myself multiple times pondering the miracle of Jon's recovery up to this point. For the first time my brother in law told me that the doctors did not believe that Jon was going to make it while he was in the ICU. Was I told this? If so, I have a good feeling I didn't allow myself to hear it because I turned my trust & hope towards the Lord. If it was His will Jon would make it. Through all the prayers worldwide, determination, and support I truly feel God has a bigger plan for Jon on earth. His journey so far has changed my life and I look forward to what is to come. #onedayatatime As for Jon's progress. He is blowing the team of doctors, nurses, statistics, family and friends away. As of Wednesday (5 days ago today) Jon has consumed a puréed breakfast, lunch and dinner. Every last bite. Feeding himself. For those who want to understand more of the journey check out the Rancho Los Amigos Scale. Jon is currently at stage 4 of healing. This stage is a bit challenging, but at the same time it reminds us that he is recovering. Communication is still in the works. He currently is not speaking, but mouthing & whispering all the time. If only we could read his lips. But, with patience, healing and prayers I am positive he will be speaking in the near future. "But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26 #staystrongjonnygrant @needtobreathe ? #testify
Laura now spends up to 10 hours a day helping her husband relearn “basic tasks” such as walking. And one video of the loving wife helping her husband walk is now going viral.
Why? Because it was the first time since the devastating accident that the Navy SEAL was able to stand and give his wife a kiss.
The video has now been viewed more than three million times and garnered thousands of comments expressing support. Many Instagram users said that they couldn’t get enough of the couple’s loving relationship.

But even with all the support, Laura is still having a difficult time, she told Cosmopolitan. Her husband still can’t speak:
“We get a little bit of head nods and mouthing, but nothing consistent. I don’t have my husband to talk to. Sometimes, when I leave the hospital at the end of the day, I think, ‘I just miss my husband.'”
Jonathan still has a long way to go, but Laura said she sometimes catches a glimpse of “old Jon.”
Though she was surprised by the overwhelming response to her Instagram, she said she is proud that it’s giving others hope, adding on Instagram: “[T]hrough the support of each and everyone of you, I stay grounded in my faith that God has a plan.”
You can donate to the couple through their GoFundMe page.
