“Teen Mom OG” stars Tyler and Catelynn Baltierra have finally decided to show off their adorable newborn daughter on social media, but they’re already fighting against negative comments.
The reality stars welcomed their third daughter, Vaeda Luma, on February 21, Dearly reported.
And on Wednesday, Tyler shared a closeup of the little one on Instagram to celebrate her turning a month old.
The proud dad wrote:
Vaeda is a month old this week & idk how it’s possible, but she keeps getting cuter!
Many fans congratulated the father on his beautiful baby girl, but other commenters left negative criticism.
According to USA Today, some social media users claimed that the baby couldn’t be Tyler’s because her skin color appeared to be darker than his. Some wrote that she appeared “half black.”
The comments prompted a response Baltierra, who was quick to call the negativity. He wrote in the comments section:
Wow. I’m actually just appalled at the ridiculously asinine comments about my newborn. We live in a world that is so divided, judgmental, self righteous & opinionated…& unfortunately it’s very evident with these comments.
Respectful MATURITY is having a strong opinion & voicing it when necessary. Disrespectful IMMATURITY is having a strong opinion & voicing it when it is NOT NECESSARY. Your deity knows all of your thoughts…but evil can only hear what comes out of your mouth.

This is my inspiration for everything! I love my family so much & there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for all of my girls! After this past year with our miscarriage, Cate’s mental health struggle, my dad & sister’s recovery, & my own mental health journey…I thought this pregnancy couldn’t have came at a more emotionally sensitive time for us. But life isn’t about convenient timing & destiny works in mysterious ways. I’m just so blessed that Vaeda’s destiny was to be right here in her mother’s arms, next to her big sister, who’s wrapped in her daddy’s arms…it’s a feeling that’s unexplainable! 🥰😭 #DaddysGirls 📸: @four13photo & @brittnimariephotography
Catelynn had a sense of humor about the situation. Alongside a laughing emoji, she joked:
Sorry babe I totally cheated and Vaedas not urs.
Many fans were quick to jump to the couple’s defense and called the comments inappropriate.
Some parents wrote that babies appear darker when they are born because of jaundice. One commenter said:
People are ignorant af. You can’t tell if a baby is black by it’s face this early on. Baby girl looks like she has a touch of breastfeeding jaundice or either the lighting is bad.
According to the American Pregnancy Association, jaundice is common in babies up to 12 weeks old.
A baby can get jaundice if they don’t receive enough breast milk and therefore have fewer bowel movements. This causes a build up the chemical bilirubin which can usually be resolved with increased feedings.
Thankfully, it doesn’t seem the parents took the comments too much to heart.
