Tori Spelling’s husband, actor Dean McDermott, was hospitalized with a case of pneumonia over the weekend — and his diagnosis could be even more serious.

The 52-year-old father of six wrote shared a photo from the hospital on Monday revealing that he was extremely ill.

McDermott wrote, in part:

So this happened last night. I got admitted to hospital with pneumonia, possibly meningitis. I’ve never been so sick in my life!!!! Thumbs up and spirits up though… #sickasadog #aintnothang#thistoshallpass #blipontheradar

The actor said he could have meningitis, a life-threatening condition that involves swelling around the brain and spinal cord, according to Mayo Clinic.

The majority of meningitis cases in the United States are caused by a virus, but another type, bacterial meningitis, can be fatal within days if left untreated.

McDermott didn’t clarify what type of meningitis doctors think he may have.

Earlier this week, the dad said in another Instagram post that he caught an unknown illness from his son, 6-year-old Finn.

He caught the illness after he was already feeling down from throwing out his back. McDermott wrote:

I’m so BUMMED!!! I’ve been laid out for 2 days because I threw my back out. Now I got hit with a fever of 102. I feel like a big pile o!!! How’d I throw my back out you ask?? Bending over to pick up a towel to DRY MY FACE!!! Epic fail!! How’d I get the 102 fever?? Courtesy of Finn McDermott.

The Canadian-American actor, who has five children with Spelling, confirmed that he has pneumonia.

Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lungs that can be caused by a number of illnesses. Symptoms vary widely and can be mild to life-threatening.

Signs of pneumonia include chest pain, cough, fever, shortness of breath, and others.

McDermott has not provided a health update since revealing that he was hospitalized.

Four years ago I experienced a severe breathing and wheezing problem that my doctor diagnosed as chronic bronchitis with dust allergy. A year later, it worsened and I was diagnosed of COPD. I came across Herbal HealthPoint (ww w. herbalhealthpoint. c om) December, 2018 and learnt about their successful herbal therapy for COPD. I immediately started on the COPD treatment; few weeks into the treatment, i began to notice a reduction in symptoms till it all vanished. I feel better and breath better. I Just wanted to share for people suffering from this horrible lungs disease.
