In a lengthy Instagram post shared to her account, “Little People, Big Word” star Tori Roloff opened up about the first time she realized her son was different.
As many of the fans who watch the show already know, Tori is married to Zach Roloff, who was born with dwarfism. Being that Tori is of normal height and Zach is not, there is a 50-50 chance that their children will also inherit dwarfism.
Their first child together, Jackson, was born with dwarfism like his father. Now that her son is 2 years old, Tori admitted that a recent trip to a local festival really highlighted just how different life will be for Jackson.
Tori wrote:
I often forget that my son is any different than yours. I forget that he has shorter legs, because he can get around and run just like any other 2 year old. I forget he has short arms, because he can still reach everything around the house (even the stuff we don’t want him to). I forget that he’s different because he’s so capable and I see nothing other than my mister mister.
Today pointed out that he is different and that’s never going to change.
The mom continued:
He watched as kids (many younger than him) rode rides at a festival here in town and he wasn’t able to join. Jackson wanted so bad to ride the airplanes that went up and down but the height requirement wouldn’t allow him to (which I totally understand!). It was harder for me than it was for him for sure. It was really the first time I was hit in the face with the fact my child is different.
Im so proud of my husband and his outlook on it all and even more proud of my son who brushes things off with ease and I pray they both continue to do this. In the words of Jeremy Roloff: if a bad attitude would fix it- I would have one. This was also just a reminder of why I love Disney Land so much: the land of no height requirements! This kid is meant to bring light to this world this I know for sure. #babyjroloff
Family members, like Amy Roloff and sister-in-law Audrey Roloff, responded to Tori’s post. Amy wrote:
Love you Tori. You’re the best Mom for Jackson. It was meant to be. Thankfully so.
While Audrey said:
He is PERFECT. We love baby J so much
As Dearly previously reported, Jackson hasn’t let his dwarfism slow him down yet.
As Tori and Zach explained during one of the episodes of their show, Jackson hit many of his first milestones around the same time an average-size child hits their’s:
“Jackson just turned 1, and he’s one the verge of walking, which is right in line with average height kids,” Tori said. “[…] As far as developement, I think he’s doing just fine.”
Zach added:
“Jackson, he’s doing great. Things that typical dwarfs could have, medical things, at his age, he has not had any of those as of now. […] He’s not out of the woods yet for things that LPs could typically have.”
Nonetheless, both Zach and Tori admitted that even though they remain anxious about the future, if Jackson is able to walk into a room with the same confidence he has now when he’s 10, he’ll be “just fine.”
Tori and Zach recently announced that Jackson is going to be a big brother after learning she is pregnant with baby number two.
Should not have any more children in my Opinion.
WHY!
Oh your a gem. Please take your own advice.
WOW what a woman, what a wife, what a mother; Jackson and Zach and new baby and Tori a truly wonderful family.
