The first time former “Today” show host Matt Lauer was seen after his termination from NBC, he was spotted near his youngest son’s school.
A photo captured Lauer sticking his head and arm out the window of his vehicle, and it revealed he was still donning his wedding ring, the Daily Mail reported.Mike Coppola/Getty Images
However, two days later, both Lauer and his wife of 19 years, Annette Roque, were spotted separately — and neither were wearing their wedding ring.
The ringless photos came one day after Roque’s father, Henri, told the Daily Mail his daughter “is not going to stay” with her husband following the sexual assault allegations:
“I have no words for her husband. What he has done is bad. Everybody feels betrayed. She is not going to stay with him and work it out. They are not together trying to work it out.”
Roque has previously filed for divorce from Lauer. The pair separated in 2006 while Roque was pregnant with their third child. She cited “cruel and inhumane behavior.” According to the Daily Mail, leaked court documents from 2014 read:
Defendant has continuously and repeatedly given higher priority to… personal interests than his family obligations to plaintiff, causing plaintiff to feel abandoned, isolated and alone in raising the parties’ children.
However, one month after filing, Roque and Lauer reportedly reached a private agreement and remained married.
The last time Roque was seen sporting her wedding ring was in September, when she and Lauer were grabbing lunch together.
Although Roque’s father said the divorce was inevitable, Lauer and Roque are still living together in their Hampton’s home, according to “Entertainment Tonight.” A source told the publication that a previous report that Roque had taken the children and left the U.S. for her native country were “untrue.”
The source also said of Lauer:
“His only focus right now is his family. He’s with them in the Hamptons and he’s working on keeping a low profile while he deals with this tough situation.”
Henri did not clarify when Roque would be officially filing for divorce.
