Clemma and Sterling Elmore met when they were just teenagers.

And for Sterling, it was love at first sight, telling ABC News in 2016 that as soon as he laid his eyes on Clemma for the first time, he knew she was the girl for him.

But four months after meeting each other for the first time, it was Clemma who jokingly asked Sterling to marry her:

“And he says ‘yes,’ And I thought, ‘Oh, did he mean that?’ I didn’t want to ask him. I wanted him to ask me.”

As Independent Journal Review previously reported, that following Saturday, Sterling and Clemma became husband and wife. They have been together ever since.

The couple first shared their love story two years ago when their “The Notebook” inspired photo shoot when viral:

Now “The Notebook” couple is in the news again after celebrating 60 years of blissful marriage with a vow renewal.

Watch the beautiful display of love in the video below:

Sterling’s vows read:

“You are every reason, every hope and every dream I have ever had and no matter what happens to us in the future, every day we are together is the greatest day of my life. I will always be yours.”

And Clemma said in return:

“I have loved you for more than 60 years. You are my best friend, my companion, and the love of my life. I cannot imagine my life without you. You are the best husband and a wonderful dad. No one can ever replace you. I love you will all of my heart.”

Photographer Stacy Welch-Christ of Mary Evelyn Photography told Dearly that for the past 60 years, Clemma and Sterling haven’t spent much time apart:

“We went to give her a day of being a bride courtesy of Moliere Bridal in OKC, Ok and when we got in the car Clemma said that Sterling told her that he already missed her. They rarely spend any time apart. They love being together and spending their days’ side by side.”

Clemma even let Dearly in on their secret to a long, successful, and loving marriage.

She said:

“You have to work in a marriage and show respect for each other and show your love for your spouse. We tell each other all thru the day, ‘I Love You.'”

Love this. Very rare these days as people tend to jump into things like marriage selfishly and then get sick of the person they wanted more for themselves than to share with and just get a divorce and go find another one to bed. Look at the smiles on their faces and the life and laughter in their eyes.
