Tinseltown titan Harvey Weinstein was admonished by Hollywood this week after an in-depth exposé by The New York Times revealed a dark history of sexual abuse and harassment allegations against him.
Then, in another series of bombshell allegations Tuesday, Weinstein was accused of raping at least three women.
Now, actor and former football star Terry Crews is coming forward with his own disturbing experience with sexual assault, according to WJLA.
In a series of 16 tweets, the 6-foot-3-inch tall former linebacker revealed he, too, fell victim to a powerful movie executive — right in front of his wife.Terry Crews/Instagram
This whole thing with Harvey Weinstein is giving me PTSD. Why? Because this kind of thing happened to ME…. My wife [and] I were at a Hollywood function last year [and] a high level Hollywood executive came over 2 me and groped my privates.
Crews and his wife couldn’t believe what had just happened, and they were left standing there in a state of shock. Crews wrote:
Jumping back I said ‘What are you doing?!’ My wife saw everything [and] we looked at him like he was crazy. He just grinned like a jerk.
The former football star said he wanted to “kick his ass right then” but was afraid of the repercussions. Instead, he talked to the exec’s colleagues about the assault and let it go.
The unnamed Hollywood exec allegedly called the actor later to apologize for his actions, but Crews never forgot what he did.
Hollywood is not the only business [where] this happens, and to the casualties of this behavior — you are not alone. Hopefully, me coming forward with my story will deter a predator and encourage someone who feels hopeless.
For now, it remains unclear if Crews plans to take any legal action against the man who allegedly assaulted him.
