Two teenage sisters were walking near a Maryland middle school when they were suddenly faced with a frightening encounter.
WJLA reports that in June 2017, a man driving a van began harassing the 19- and 15-year-olds. Daniel Dickson allegedly wanted the teen girls to perform sex acts on him.
One of the sisters quickly used her phone to capture video of his license plate, while the other called 911, which scared the man away. After the incident, she told the dispatcher:
“He pulled up, he wanted us to go inside the car. He was being so disrespectful. He got out of the car. We have the license plates and everything.”
Police were able to track down the 34-year-old man, thanks to the sisters’ quick thinking as the man fled the scene. And it led police to make a startling discovery.
When they looked inside Dickson’s Mazda minivan, they found that he’d placed two mattresses in the back, with condoms scattered throughout the vehicle and a can of body spray.
The Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office spokesman, Ramon Korionoff, said:
“It looks like the minivan was setup for being a roving sex chamber.”
According to Fox5DC, the teens told police this wasn’t the first time they’ve seen Dickson’s van driving past Loiderman Middle School. They spotted it at least two mornings every week.
After his arrest, Dickson told investigators he made a social media account to pick up girls, and he didn’t care whether they were underage or not.
Court documents also revealed Dickson was suspected of propositioning a 17-year-old girl in 2013, and that he allegedly admitted he followed girls around to pick them up.
Korionoff praised the teens for putting the man behind bars, WJLA reports:
“They called 911, they caught the license plate on video and today we have a conviction against what seems to be a child predator.”
Dickson was found guilty of one count of sexual solicitation of a minor. He could receive a maximum 10-year sentence and a $25,000 fine with 5 years probation. The man could also be required to register as a sex offender for 25 years, Fox4DC reports.
