“Teen Mom 2” star Kailyn Lowry responds to criticism after revealing she did not vaccinate her 18-month-old son who she shares with ex Chris Lopex.
On Thursday the 22-year-old mother of three opened up about her decision to stop vaccinating her children on her “Coffee Convos” podcast.
During the episode, she told co-host, Lindsie Chrisley, that she no longer believes that vaccines are necessary after doing her research and Lux did not get his immunization shots.

“Lux is 18 months, and he is not vaccinated.
He hasn’t really ever been sick, and for me, I think the more research that I do and the more educated I’ve become, (I’m thinking) just don’t vaccinate him.”
During the controversial topic of conversation, the MTV star also mentioned that she is not advising other parents to not vaccinate their own children.
Lowry said of her 8-year-old son with ex-boyfriend Jo Rivera:
“I don’t want to lose listeners because of my opinion — but, I did vaccinate Isaac, because to me, I didn’t know any better, and I gave — I let them vaccinate him with whatever they basically said that he needed. And I feel like I was ignorant, and didn’t do research, and didn’t know any better.”
The reality star went on to say that with her second son with ex-husband Javi Marroquin she started to talk to other moms about vaccinating 4-year-old Lincoln and watched documentaries on Netflix. She recalled:
“With Lincoln, I knew a little bit more and I started to research more and that’s when — I think — the conversation about vaccination started to really go on with me and my friends who became moms, and there were documentaries on Netflix and all kinds of news that I would try to look into.
Lincoln did not get all of his vaccines; I definitely picked and chose which ones I felt like were necessary, and he did not get them all at once.”
Lowry said she picked “one or two vaccines” she felt were necessary. Needless to say, fellow moms came down hard on the reality star with harsh judgments. As reported by Us Weekly, one Twitter user wrote:
Did she just say she slowly decided not to vaccinate her children because her new mom friends and documentaries on Netflix… I can’t. There’s… nope I just won’t.
I think its irresponsible for you to have a podcast where you share your uneducated views against vaccinations. You have a following of young women who admire you and you're just being ignorant.

Oh I missed the part where you have a medical degree?
After receiving backlash Lowry stood by her comments and defended her decision to not vaccinate her children. She addressed the controversial statements during an interview with InTouch Weekly. On Friday the celebrity mom said:
“I guess the only thing I can really say and continue to stand for is to parent how it’s best for your child and family.
People don’t love everything I do, but I don’t shove my beliefs down anyone else’s throat. I know what’s best for my kids, and other parents know what’s best for theirs.”
As previously reported by Dearly, parents are opting out of vaccines despite concerns from major health organizations. According to a 2019 World Health Organization report, “vaccine hesitancy” could be a “threat to global health.”
What do think about Lowry joining the anti-vaccination movement?
