Most moms love a good Target haul, so when one shopper came across a framed sign openly supporting breastfeeding in public, she had to share the news with nursing mothers.
On Friday, a Target customer shared a photo of a framed letter that encouraged breastfeeding mothers to nurse openly whenever they’d like while shopping.
The sign reads:
At Target, you are free to nurse wherever and whenever you like while you shop because we think moms rock.
The memo also tells moms that the store has designated rooms for nursing:
But, if you would like a comfy (or more private) spot to nurse or change a diaper, please ask our fitting room attendant about our nursing room! A peaceful space to take a break during your Target run, it’s even stocked with some free goodies to make you and baby’s time even sweeter. Happy nursing and happy shopping!
Thousands of women on Facebook praised the Weatherford, Texas store for the sign display and shared their own experiences of trying to navigate feeding in public. One mom wrote:
Target nursing room was super comfy. No free treats at this [one] but I brought my s’mores Frappuccino in with me.
Another mother said:
Target understands most of its business is moms but seriously this is amazing to hear.
One woman commented:
When I was nursing I would use Target’s dressing rooms. I was given a pillow, water and snacks. They even kept my older child occupied so I could nurse in peace!
As women around the country assert their right to breastfeed their babies in public, many praised the Texas store for treating mothers to a more comfortable shopping experience.
New moms, in particular, shouted out Target for the simple gesture and said they wish every store was as supportive as this particular Target.
