Photos of Prince George and of Prince William and Prince Harry as children show they all have very similar wardrobes:

They are all dressed in shorts.

Apparently, the style is something many wealthy families in Europe follow. As etiquette expert William Hanson explained to Mashable in 2016, it “stems from an age-old aristocratic tradition”:

“In the 17th and 18th centuries, boys of age three or four were put in breeches, which are basically shorts. Trousers were something to be worn by men, and little boys would be put in shorts.”

Hanson continued by saying:

“It has a little to do with the snob factor. A lot of mothers want their little boys to dress like little boys rather than like men.”

And while many parents may find the outfits cute, Prince Harry found them to be pretty “weird.”

In the HBO documentary about Princess Diana, both Harry and William described their mom as being one of the “naughtiest” parents, with the best sense of humor. Harry even admitted that one of the mottos she shared with him was:

“You can be as naughty as you want, just don’t get caught.”

Because of Diana’s sense of humor, Harry admitted, that if he could ask his mom one thing, he would ask her if she found satisfaction in dressing him and Prince William up “in the most bizarre outfits”:

“It was weird shorts and like little shiny shoes with the old clip on them. Looking back at the photos, it just makes me laugh and I just think, ‘How could you do that to us?'”

Harry then explained that when they got older, they began fighting their mom on the outfits that were being picked out for them.

The 32-year-old prince said:

“Funny enough, we got to the age where William would turn around and go, ‘You know this is ridiculous. I’m the older brother, why do I have to be dressed the same as him?’ And I’m sort of thinking, ‘Hang on a second, if you’re going to dress differently, I’m not going to be the only person dressed like this. This is just ridiculous.'”

Harry then joked with a smile on his face:

“I’d like to think that she had great fun in dressing us up, I’m sure that wasn’t it, but I’m sure as hell going to dress my kids up the same way.”

It looks like Prince William and Princess Catherine are one step ahead of him.

Poor George.
