Reality star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi spent the past week vacationing with her husband and children in Disneyland but landed in hot water after sharing some photos from the trip on social media.
The 31-year-old, who is currently expecting her third child, appeared to be having a blast with her husband and two children in the California theme park.
She shared a number of pictures of her adorable children, 6-year-old Lorenzo, and 4-year-old Giovanna, enjoying their time on Instagram.
But one photo of her children sitting in strollers while exploring the park caused some uproar among fans.
Some Instagram users commented her children should not have been in strollers because they are too old, according to PopCulture.
One fan told the mom:
Andddddd a perfect example of why Disney’s enforcing stricter guidelines on strollerssssssss #kidssobigtheirfeetdrag
Another commenter wrote:
Those kids are waayy too old to be in a stroller! But this pic is adorablee.
However, the reality star was quick to defend her decision to put the children in strollers. She said it was simply easier to keep track of them that way.
They walk! But in large crowds I prefer they sit their a***s down. Saves me the stress of not losing my offspring.
A pediatrician with the American Academy of Pediatrics told ABC News in 2011 that “kids should be transitioning out of a stroller at around three years old.”
Dr. Jennifer Shu said:
“The child will never develop strength and conditioning if they’re not allowed to do the walking. Parents don’t want to have the child walk because they’ll whine about being tired, but doing all the walking for them is not helping the child.”
However, the American Academy of Pediatrics doesn’t have any official guidelines on when children should stop using strollers.
At the end of the day, it’s up for the parent to decide.
