Taylor Swift completely scrubbed the images on all of her social media accounts on Monday, leaving fans and haters scratching their heads:

Many predicted that this tabula rasa meant new work was on the horizon:

Then, later on Monday, the “Shake it Off” singer posted a cryptic video to her Instagram account, which seemed to feature a snake slithering in the darkness:
Those familiar with Swift may remember one of her many feuds with Kim Kardashian, who exposed the pop singer in a series of lies about her husband, rapper and notorious stage-crasher Kanye West:
Wait it's legit National Snake Day?!?!?They have holidays for everybody, I mean everything these days! ?????????????????????????????????????
— Kim Kardashian West (@KimKardashian) July 17, 2016
Then, on Tuesday, Swift continued to mystify the internet with a second video:
And now, sources are breaking the silence to hint at a possible resurrection of the singer’s music career.
According to Us Weekly, insiders close to Swift reveal that she’s dropping a new “poppy” single this Friday:
“She’s being very secretive about it, but it’s going to be a really good one.”
This next album would be her first album in three years, her last body of work being the wildly popular “1989,” released in October 2014.
But Swift is not out of the woods with her more speculative fans, who see her as merely as a “snake in the grass” opportunist:
Girl we have a solar eclipse going on no one has time for your snake in the grass nonsense

Has she slithered her way to another publicity stunt? We’ll just have to wait and see.
