Serena Williams Want Working Moms and Dads Alike to Know That ‘Anything Is Possible’

If there is one thing the world learned about Serena Williams in 2018, it’s that she loves being a mother to her 1-year-old daughter, Olympia.

And that she has also been rocking her new role as a working mom.

And now, as 2019 approaches, Williams is offering some encouraging words to all of the working moms and working dads out there.

In an Instagram post, the legendary tennis player wrote that as the new year approaches, it’s not “about what we can do it’s what we MUST do as working moms and working dads.”

She then added that “anything is possible.”

Williams continued:

I am getting ready for the first match of the year and my dear sweet baby [Olympia] was tired and sad and simply needed mama’s love. So if it means warming up and stretching while holding my baby that’s what #thismama will do.

My fellow moms and dads working- or stay home it’s equally as intense- but you inspire me. Hearing your stories makes me know I can do this. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This year is to you! What are some things you had to do while working?

Hundreds of her followers then shared their own stories of how they managed to juggle both raising kids and their careers.

Some said:

When I was working as an art teacher and needing to get to my first class on time, I remember getting my two kids (under 5) to preschool..pushing them in a stroller through snow, rain, tears, laughter and sunshine and thinking this is harder than writing my thesis and getting my MA. I felt so accomplished when they were both safely in their classes and I could sit down for my first cup of tea before teaching. You are an amazing and inspiring mama and role model for all the girls and women! Happy New Year!

This is literally so inspiring and I appreciate everything you Serena Williams have shared over the last year. It is beyond scary, stressful and depressing becoming a mother and realizing how hard it actually is going to be to be able to handle everything life is throwing at you including your career. You are so amazing and strong and I am blessed to having such an amazing role model. Keep being you and keep being strong. You are so beautiful in all that you are.

A couple of times I had to go get my daughter when my mom was unable to care for her and bring her to my job. Fortunately I had very understanding bosses. She would sit there and help me check in patients by greeting them and asking them if they were okay. They loved her. She was 2 at the time. She is now 22. I thank God for blessing me to be her mom. Your family is so beautiful. You are a true inspiration to us all. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Happy New Year!

What are some of your memories as a working parent?

  1. If anyone wants to keep a LOT more of their money, just fill out an IRS Form 8233 and announce that you are “Non-Resident Alien a citizen of ( put the name of your domicile State).

The IRS Income Taxes are ONLY for the residents/citizens of Washington D.C., etc. NOT for the average citizen which is why the 1040 Instruction Book has “voluntary taxes” right on the front cover.
