However, while posing on the red carpet before the big event, Williams was noticeably without her husband, Alexis Ohanian.
The 37-year-old explained her husband’s absence on Instagram before walking the red carpet.
She said Ohanian’s decision to exclude himself from attending the big night with her made her feel “lucky” to have a husband like him.
“So I’m on my way to the Oscars like I said and I have the best husband, he’s at home working hard and with the baby. He’s baby sitting and he could be here with me and he’s like, ‘Nope, I want to be with my daughter.’ I’m so lucky.”
Ohanian shared a photo of Williams getting ready for the Oscars, as their 1-year-old daughter Olympia sat on her lap on Instagram after his wife appeared on stage, where she shared a poignant message about having a dream and the hard work it takes to make that dream come true.
“When we’re young, we all have dreams of what we can accomplish in life. Having the dream is easy, making it come true is hard.”
And while discussing the movie, Williams added:
“In tonight’s nominee for Best Picture, we see through Ali’s eyes the highs and lows on the journey to stardom. There’s the rush of fame, the pressure of success, and the heartache that comes with sacrificing love for career and career for love.”
According to Harper’s Bazaar, some believed that Williams’ note of giving up a “career for love” was a “secret message of support” to her friend, Prince Harry’s wife Meghan Markle.
