Sharp-tongued “Real Housewives of New York” superstar Bethenny Frankel speaks her mind freely, even when it comes to her children.
And she pulled no punches during a recent sit down with People magazine, where she admitted that she’s a strict disciplinarian around the house.
According to People, Frankel claims to be a “very strict parent” who refuses to budge to the will of her 7-year-old daughter, Bryn Casey:
“I don’t negotiate with terrorists. I’m liberal and I like to spoil, but I lay down the hammer when it’s time.”
Her unorthodox comparisons didn’t stop there. Frankel also compared raising a child to potty-training a household pet:
“Kids are like dogs. They have to know where the wee-wee pad is. ‘This is where you pee and this is where you don’t pee.’”
The 46-year-old Skinnygirl mogul believes her well-known brash candor has translated to her young child — and she couldn’t be more proud:
“My daughter’s extremely strong-willed and sassy and funny, and likes to beat a joke into the ground. Which makes me realize that’s my kid.”
Frankel shares custody of Bryn with her ex-husband Jason Hoppy, who she previously accused of stalking and verbal harassment. Following an altercation in January, Hoppy was arrested and charged with first-degree harassment and fourth-degree stalking.Ben Gabbe/Getty Images
For the most part, she says she raises Bryn without any help, which includes no nannies or babysitters:
“I’m proud that I don’t have a nanny and that when I am with my daughter, I’m 100 percent with her.”
She added that she spends a lot of “intense alone time” with her child, making sure to not bring home any of her work so it doesn’t disrupt quality time.
