Millions of people tune in to listen to Delilah Rene’s nightly radio show broadcast across the nation. Not only do her fans adore the self-described “Queen of Sappy Love Songs” for her musical choices, but also for her advice, her guidance, and her warm-hearted persona.

Sadly, however, on Saturday afternoon, the radio host had to inform her following that she’d be off the air for a while because she had some tragic news.

The 57-year-old took to Facebook to announce her son, Zachariah, “took his life” in the early morning of Tuesday, October 3. She wrote:

“My dear friends, I need to share some devastating news with you. In the early morning hours, Tuesday, October 3, my son, Zachariah, took his life.”

The grieving mother continued, explaining that her son had been battling depression and, at the very least, she is comforted by the thought that he is now in heaven:

“He was being treated, counseled, and embraced fiercely by family and friends while battling depression for some time now. My heart is broken beyond repair and I can not fathom how to go on … but I have to believe he is at peace with the Lord and that God will get us through.”

Naturally, she let her fans know she’ll be taking some time off the air to deal with such a devastating loss with her family, writing:

“I will be absent from the radio and on social media for a time as I grieve and try to process this loss with my family. In the mean-time we’ll be playing some of my favorite shows from the recent past. I’ll look forward to my return, as you all lift me up so very much!”

And she signed off with one simple request:

“Please pray for my beloved Zacky, and I will pray for all suffering from this debilitating disease called depression.”

Nearly 100,000 people commented on her post with words of encouragement and condolences, all the while encouraging her to take all the time she needs:

According to People magazine, Zachariah, sadly, isn’t the first child Delilah has had to say goodbye to. In 2012, her son Sammy passed away from “complications of sickle-cell anemia,” according to the publication. She wrote in an announcement at the time:

“My son Sammy passed from this world today into heaven, but he left behind a piece of his amazing soul in all that met him. As painful as this moment is, I am so so so so so thankful that God allowed me, my family and friends to experience the essence of his soul for the past two years. Everyone who met him was blessed by his big heart, his silly character voices, his wonderful sense of humor and his kindness towards all. He was a precious, precious young man and I praise the Lord that I was allowed to be bathed in Sammy’s love as his ‘MommaBear’ … we have been forever changed by having him in our lives.”

Delilah is the mother of 13 children, and a host to millions of loyal, appreciate fans. Although hearts around the world are breaking for the grieving mother, there seem to be just as many people praying for both the radio host and her beloved family.
