Nineteen-year-old Kera Teel was driving home with her mother from a doctor’s appointment in Galveston, Texas, on June 6 when she noticed a black Cadillac circling the entrance of her apartment complex.
According to 10 News, after Teel parked her vehicle a man in a black mask came to the window. Her mother, Mindy Morris, was sitting in the passenger seat.
They tried to lock the doors, but the locks never engaged. Morris told 10 News that the man pointed a gun at her daughter’s head:
“She kept saying no, please, please don’t, no. And I jerked her back and he opened the door and shot at her twice […] I held her in my arms I said Kera, Kera please baby.”
She watched helplessly as her daughter was shot in front of her, then she fled the vehicle as the man continued to shoot after her.
Morris said she never heard him ask for money or demand anything:
“If they wanted anything I would have given it to them, except my baby.”
Beaumont Police Department was called to the scene around 1:50 a.m. Teel was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

“My wife died in my arms. I don’t know if any of you have experienced anything like that, but I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy […] Kera wasn’t just my wife, she was my best friend, the mother of my children. She was just the greatest person to be around, so full of life … taken way too young.”
The heartbroken husband also begged members of the public to come forward with information:
