On January 25, Elizabeth Barraza put up signs advertising a garage sale at her home. She didn’t know that’d she lose her life before the sale even started.

Barraza’s father, Robert Nuelle, told KTRK that the Texas wife was trying to raise money for an anniversary trip.

She would have celebrated her fifth wedding anniversary to Sergio Barraza with a romantic getaway two days after the garage sale.

The 29-year-old was shot down by an unknown assailant while setting up the garage sale outside her home. Her husband said at a press conference:

“I had to trade our fifth wedding anniversary for her funeral. We need justice for Liz.”

Police are now searching for the suspect who killed Elizabeth and then drove away in a black truck. The incident was captured on a neighbor’s security camera.

Footage showed the suspect get out of their car around 6:52 a.m. before shooting Elizabeth four times at point-blank range.

It’s unclear from the video if the shooter is a man or a woman. It’s believed their truck is a Nissan Frontier.

The late Texan’s father said:

“A coward forever changed our lives (and) shot an unarmed and defenseless woman. The murderer needs to pay for their actions. We believe someone can help guide law enforcement. Please come forward.”

Elizabeth and her husband often volunteered with Make-A-Wish at Memorial Hermann hospital, where she passed away after the shooting, according to People. Her husband said:

“It is so sad my wife passed away in the same hospital we did so many hours of volunteering at.”

Police remain unsure of the shooter’s motive. Harris County Officer Jason Spencer said:

“Other than there is interaction on the video, it is not clear if it is an altercation.”

The family has since held a memorial that was themed “Harry Potter” and “Stars Wars.” Both were franchises that Elizabeth loved.

Crime Stoppers is currently offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest. If you have information, call 713-222-TIPS.
