The parents of 8-month-old King Jay Davila reported his kidnapping to police Friday.
On Monday, the child’s father, Christopher Davila, was arrested for child endangerment as authorities continue their search for the boy, reports the Associated Press.
According to The San Antonio Police Department, the father of the missing Texas baby staged a kidnapping to cover up “foul play.” The 34-year-old called 911 last Friday night to report that his vehicle had been stolen from a gas station while his son was inside the car.
San Antonio Police tweeted an alert Saturday.

According to FOX 6, Davila’s car was found in a nearby park, but the baby was no longer inside.
Police Chief William McManus told reporters:
“The child was not in the car.”
Police believe the case is a staged event. He added:
“This was not a car theft. This was not a kidnapping. This was a staged event. The woman in the video who took the vehicle is a cousin of Christopher Davila.”

McManus says the investigation is ongoing. The woman seen in surveillance footage is Angie Torres.
Torres was arrested on an unrelated robbery charge. According to KSAT, the officer working the case recognized her from the abduction investigation. She was caught on video driving the car away.
McManus said in a press conference:
“We know there are more people out there that have information on this case — what happened to King Jay. Even if you were not directly involved, if you are withholding information, if you have lied to the police, we will charge you.”
