Florida 13-year-old Daylin Campbell was battling leukemia during the Christmas holiday when he received a bicycle as a gift.

The sixth grader went into remission, but never the chance to ride his new bike because he was still working to recover his strength when it was stolen last week, according to Fox 13.

Campbell’s mom, Canice Jordan, said on Facebook that her son was upset when the gift was taken off his family’s porch. She wrote:

The bicycle stolen was special to Daylin and held sentimental value being that it was a gift for Christmas while going through his Cancer Treatment.

After a family friend posted about the missing bike on social media, word quickly spread throughout the community.

That’s when the Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd and two deputies were inspired to go above and beyond to help the cancer survivor.

His mother revealed on Facebook that they showed up at her door with a brand new bike for the 13-year-old.

After someone stole my son’s bike, I never expected this. Thank you so much Polk County Sheriff's Office and a special…

Thank you so much Polk County Sheriff’s Office and a special Thank You to Sheriff Grady Judd for taking the time out of your busy day to hand deliver my son a brand new bicycle. The bicycle stolen was special to Daylin and held sentimental value being that it was a gift for Christmas while going through his Cancer Treatment. It was definitely not the Sheriffs Department to replace it, but out of the goodness of their hearts, they did without being asked… And for that I’ll forever be thankful for you all ❤️?

In a video of the sweet moment, one deputy told the boy:

“We’re sorry you lost your bike. We’d like to find out who stole it from you, but we decided to bring you a brand new one. And you know what? This deputy and this captain made that all happen.”

The sheriff’s office later said that they’d received the bike as a donation before giving it to the Daylin.

It just didn't sit well with us knowing someone stole 13-year-old Daylin Campbell's bike off his front porch Monday in Lake Wales. This wasn't just any bike – it was a very special bike. It was given to him last Christmas while he was battling leukemia. This week we kindly received a donated bike and surprised Daylin with it to cheer him up. Want to know the even better news? Daylin is now in remission and we hope this bike will help him enjoy being a kid again. ABC 28's Andrea Lyon did a great story on Daylin's surprise.
