The man allegedly responsible for a 23-year-old TerriLynn St. John’s death is now behind bars after he confessed to killing the mom of two outside of her home on February 27.

They were able to find her killer thanks to a post on social media, according to CBS News.

As Dearly previously reported, St. John was reported missing after she failed to show up for work and her family found the front door to her Wake, Virginia home left open with her two young children inside alone.

A broken necklace and her phone were found outside St. John’s home, possibly indicating that a struggle had occurred. Soon after she was reported missing, police named 23-year-old Alvin Keyser as a person of interest.

The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that a post on social media about “a statement Keyser previously made” led them to Keyser. He then led investigators to where he hid St. John’s body.

According to CBS News, Keyser told investigators why he killed St. John. According to a statement made by Middlesex Sheriff Major Michael Sampson:

“Keyser stated to detectives he confronted St. John at her residence about statements that were made about [him]. Keyser stated that St. John struck him, and he struck her back, he then pushed her out of the van Keyser was driving.”

Keyser told detectives that he proceeded to hit St. John and strangled her until she stopped breathing:

“Keyser then stated he loaded her in the van and put her body in the woods down from her residence.”

Keyser is currently being held without bond at the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on Monday, March 5.

Keyser has been charged with first-degree murder and concealing a dead body; the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office anticipates more charges will be brought.

As CBS News reports, the boyfriend with whom St. John was living at the time of her death is still still being considered a person of interest.

St. John’s last Facebook post was published just two days before her death.

It read:

Sometimes you just have to accept what happened, smile and move on.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help her family with expenses.
