It’s been a challenging year for Paris Jackson, the 20-year-old daughter of late pop icon Michael Jackson.
In June, the model lost her grandfather, Joseph Jackson, to terminal cancer, Dearly reported.
Now, she’s seeking treatment for her mental health, sources told Entertainment Tonight.
A source close her told the outlet that she “decided that she needed to take some time off to reboot, realign and prioritize her physical and emotional health.”
So for now, she’s taking some time away they told Us Weekly:
“She checked herself into a treatment facility to aid in her wellness plan and is looking forward to coming out of this revitalized and ready to tackle the exciting new projects that await her.”
It’s unclear if anything in particular prompted the move or if she’s just in need of some help.
This isn’t the first time Jackson has entered a treatment center. In 2013, she attempted to commit suicide and was hospitalized.
She was just 15 at the time and later told Rolling Stone that she’d tried to kill herself multiple times. In a 2017 interview, Jackson said:
“It was just self-hatred, low self-esteem, thinking that I couldn’t do anything right, not thinking I was worthy of living anymore.”
“I was crazy. I was actually crazy. I was going through a lot of, like teen, angst. And I was also dealing with my depression and my anxiety without any help.”
Jackson has not spoken out publicly about her recent return to treatment.
