Makeup mogul Kylie Jenner is coming under fire after revealing that her 15-month-old daughter, Stormi, loves to eat sushi.
The 21-year-old opened up about some of her daughter’s favorite foods in a video blog with her friend and fellow mom, Heather Sanders.
As the two chowed down on sushi in front of the camera, Jenner said little Stormi has a love of the Japanese staple, too. She explained:
“Stormi loves sushi. I’ll take her to Nobu.”
However, Jenner was quick to add that she never feeds her daughter anything uncooked. She told her friend:
“I don’t feed her anything raw, but she just loves edamame. They’ll bring the whole thing of edamame. She will not stop until it’s all gone. She eats all the edamame… She’ll eat a whole bowl of soy sauce rice.”
Though the mom of one clarified that she didn’t give her daughter raw seafood, many were quick to mom-shame Jenner on social media.
One Facebook user wrote:
Be careful with sushi because she might have allergy reaction to seafood. She is too young for sushi MAMA.
I wouldn’t feed my children sushi at that young age to much of a risk. But her baby her problem.
Other parents were quick to jump to Jenner’s defense. Some even stated that they gave their own children seafood at that age.
One commenter said:
My son has been eatung sushi since he was 2 [shrugging emoji] his doctor knew, she wasnt worried but she was majorly impressed that a 2 year old could eat half a tuna roll to himself.
According to Parents, most doctors recommend waiting until a child is nine months old before introducing fish and until 12 months old to introduce shellfish.
However, if seafood allergies run in your family, it’s best to wait until three years old.
