Florida entrepreneur Ian Rylett owns seven popular children’s YouTube channels under his brand SevenAwesomeKids and boasts a collective 17 million subscribers.
The most popular channel, SevenSuperGirls, has nine million subscribers alone, according to Buzzfeed news.
SevenSuperGirls is immensely popular with kids and tweens, which features a rotating cast of young girls chosen by Rylett.
But now, the 55-year-old has been arrested for sexually abusing one of the young stars.
According to People, court records reveal that Rylett was charged with one count of lewd or lascivious battery of a minor less than 16, last month, after reportedly asking a young actress to take her shirt off.
He allegedly asked the girl to “practice wrapping her breasts down, to make them appear smaller for the video shoot” as she stood in front of him.
When she refused, Rylett said he “would remove her shirt by force if she did not comply with his demands.”
The 55-year-old reportedly also had the girl try on several bikinis and fondled her breasts.
He asked her to remove her clothes in front of him, including her underwear, and threatened to fine her if she didn’t.
People reports that the minor responded, “Fine, fine me then.”
Rylett was arrested on August 18 and has since been released on bail.
Though Rylett lives in Florida, he is a citizen of the United Kingdom. His passport was taken away upon his release earlier this month.
YouTube has demonetized his videos, which were making Rylett a large amount of advertising revenue each month.
They said in a statement to People:
We take safety on YouTube very seriously. We work closely with leading child safety organizations and others in our industry to protect young people. When we’re made aware of serious allegations of this nature we take action, which may include suspending monetization, or, upon conclusion of an investigation, terminating channels.
The 55-year-old is not allowed to have contact with children below the age of 18 for the time being.
