Maria Nordø Jørstad, a mother from Copenhagen, Denmark, was shocked when she learned that she was adding three more children to her family with her second pregnancy.

According to People, the mom and her husband, Anders, conceived the triplets naturally. They previously only had a 2-year-old son together.

Jørstad kept her followers updated on her pregnancy through Instagram and slowly started to gain attention for her large baby bump.

Toward the end of her pregnancy, it reached a whopping 44 pounds.

On September 12, Jørstad welcomed two healthy baby girls and a son.

The mom wrote that everything went “really well” and that she and her husband were “happy and relieved.” They named the children Iben, Agnes, and Filip.

After nine days in the NICU, the three infants were allowed to go home, according to her Instagram.

Friday was a big day: we got to bring our babies home after 9 days at the NICU! ? We are on a so called «early home stay», which means that we get visits from a nurse twice a week who weighs the babies and brings the supplies we need for tube feeding. And when the tubes are out, we are officially out as well. ⠀ We are so grateful for the nurses at Hvidovre Neonatal (NICU) who have helped us so far, they really are the sweetest people. ❤️ My husband and I think it is amazing that we have been able to stay in a room with the triplets since day 1. It really has helped with the bonding and getting the routines going for the transition back home. ?????? ⠀ ⠀ #triplets #tripletsofinstagram #tripletmom #breastfeeding #hospitallife #nicu #neonatal #hvidovrehospital #bornat35weeks2days

However, the mother of four was left with a large belly even after giving birth because her stomach had stretched so much.

Even a month after welcoming her little ones, the mom still looked as though she was carrying.

Jørstad said she couldn’t help but be disappointed. In a recent Instagram post, she spoke out about the reality of her postpartum body:

I still have a weird looking hanging belly, and I am a bit surprised it has not gotten smaller since my last picture three weeks ago. Kind of disappointing I must admit, and I am not too happy to share this picture.

#postpartumbody ⠀ 4 weeks after the birth of my triplets. ?????? ⠀ I still have a weird looking hanging belly, and I am a bit surprised it has not gotten smaller since my last picture three weeks ago. Kind of disappointing I must admit, and I am not too happy to share this picture. On the positive side the c-section scar doesn’t hurt anymore, and in the last two days I’ve almost felt like myself again! Except for this heavy sagging belly that is. ? I’ve been waiting for some belly bands that were shipped from the US several weeks ago, and they will finally arrive tomorrow. Can’t wait to try them on and see if they have any effect! ⠀ ⠀ #triplets #postpartum #impatient

The mom continued:

The mom also said that she’s been adjusting to breastfeeding and figuring out a care schedule for her three new children.

Though the mom was feeling down, she’s gotten plenty of support from her followers, who have cheered her on throughout pregnancy.

Not to mention, she has a loving family by her side. The mom appropriately wrote: “This too shall pass.”
