The small town of Delphi, Indiana, was left in shock after two middle school girls turned up dead near a popular hiking spot in the woods.
Abigail “Abby” Williams, 13, and Liberty “Libby” German, 14, were enjoying the outdoors near Deer Creek on Feb. 13 when something terrible occurred, according to earlier reports.
The middle school students were alone when they snapped fun photos at the iconic hiking spot, Monon High Bridge.
Those would be the last photos taken of them alive.

The bodies of Abby and Libby were found the next day on the side of the creek, less than a mile from were they were posing for photos. Their remains were located on a small, wooded property.
Indiana State Police quickly ruled the case a homicide, and they launched an investigation into the middle schoolers’ murders.
They released images of a man, taken on Libby’s phone, whom they believed to be the suspect. And later, authorities released a composite sketch image.Indiana State Police
Seven months later, police think they may finally have their suspect in custody.
According to Fox 59, police arrested a 31-year-old Colorado man Monday after he was caught chasing people on an outdoor trail with a hatchet. He may also be linked to the fatal shooting of a bicyclist that occurred in El Paso County two weeks ago.
They now think the man, Daniel Nations, could be the suspect they’ve been looking for in the Delphi murder case.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Kim Riley told the Journal & Courier of Lafayette, Indiana, that they started to look into the connection after they were contacted by Colorado police, who said they had received a tip Nations may have committed the double murder.

Nations is a registered sex offender in Indiana, and he has prior convictions for drugs and domestic battery, according to Fox 59. Indiana State Police have now released a statement regarding the man:
“We are aware of the arrest of the person in Colorado and are investigating to see if he could be a suspect in the Delphi double murder investigation. Please keep in mind the Indiana State Police has received more than a thousand photos of persons alleged to be similar in appearance to the composite sketch of the Delphi person of interest. Each and everyone of these tips are investigated for any potential connection to our case. We will give the same attention to the person arrested in Colorado, but right now there is nothing that definitively connects this person to our investigation. If that should change — with this tip, or any other tip — rest assured we would be sharing such news with all media sources.”
Nations is currently being held at the Teller County Jail in Colorado. He has not yet been brought up on any charges pertaining to the Delphi murders.
