Single parents with children have a lot to consider before dating or getting remarried.
For one mom, who was given another chance at love, marrying her meant accepting her kid and making sure her 12-year-old daughter loved her partner as much as she did.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Warner explained:
“We don’t believe in ‘step’ in our family.”
So when Tia Warner, 28, and boyfriend Andrew Mast, 33, started dating back in 2017 after meeting online, she was happy Mast developed a special bond with her daughter, Te’Kia, before proposing.
The Air Force sergeant from Ohio shared his secret proposal with Reid before popping the big question to her mom. However, the little girl had no idea what he was planning next.
In a Facebook video posted in August, Warner shared the special moment her daughter learned that her mom was engaged.
Watch the second surprise below:
In the clip, Mast asks Reid about their top-secret surprise concerning her mom. He says:
“I was going to ask her, right? Look at your mom’s hand.”
The girl screams with joy when she spots her mom’s large diamond engagement ring on her finger.
Mast explains to Reid:
“I asked her last night.
So, now, here’s the thing though. You are already my kid. When I marry your mom, it’s like legal that you’re my kid, like in a legal sense, right? So it’s not just your mom that I proposed to.'”
The stepdad-to-be then got on his knee and gave Reid a ring with three small diamonds, saying:
“I want to see if you will be my daughter.”
She squeals before saying yes and giving her soon-to-be dad a big hug.
The Maryland mother said:
“I didn’t know what her reaction would be, honestly, but I’m so glad she was happy and excited.”
“As he takes me as his wife, he wanted to ensure that she knew she was his daughter as well.”
As previously reported by Dearly, proposing to a partner’s child has become a sweet way to come together as one family.
