Gabriella Martina Sanchez, a mother of two, has been arrested for felony child abuse, but it’s not just the abuse that’s making headlines, it’s the reported reason behind it.
According to The Journal Times, the 27-year-old Wisconsin resident was looking for a marijuana joint earlier this month in her Racine County home.
After an unreported amount of time searching for it, she grew more desperate — and irate — for the drug.
Sadly, after some time unsuccessfully hunting for her weed, she turned to her innocent children.
According to reports, Sanchez later brought her two children, 6- and 8-years-old, to a nearby hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries. It wasn’t long before the police were called.
The Journal Times reported that after Sanchez could not find her marijuana, she picked up a strap and slapped her two children with it, as well as choked them.
It’s unclear how severe their injuries were.
Last week, after a police-led investigation, Sanchez was taken into custody and charged with two felony counts of physical child abuse.
It should be noted that some uses of medical marijuana are permissible in the state, however, it’s unclear whether Sanchez is medically qualified.
As of Friday, according the Journal Times, Sanchez was still in custody, and her preliminary hearing has been set for Wednesday. As for her two kids, it’s been reported that a social worker was present with them at the hospital, but it’s unclear whose care they’re currently under.
What is clear, however, is that Sanchez is now facing the music for the harm she caused her children, and, for now, they’re safe from her hands.
