Emotions boiled over at the sentencing hearing for a mother and her former boyfriend, who plead guilty for child endangerment after her toddler froze to death on their front doorstep last year.

As the Akron Beacon Journal reports, Tierra Williams, 23, told police she left her 2-year-old daughter Wynter Parker with Dariaun Parker, 25, while she was out with the couple’s 4-year-old son in Akron, Ohio.

Williams, who was pregnant at the time, said she was gone for about two hours when Parker lost track of Wynter.

According to court documents, the little girl wandered outside while her dad was asleep. She was later found by her mom “frozen” and unresponsive on a frigid February day.

The mother immediately wrapped the girl with blankets and called 911. She could be heard saying during the 911 call:

“She’s frozen! She’s frozen.”

At the time of the child’s death, it was only 19 degrees in Akron, Ohio and the child wasn’t wearing a coat. Wynter died of severe hypothermia.

On January 25, 2019, the mother had an emotional outburst in court while being sentenced for her child’s death.

As soon as Summit County Judge Alison McCarty read her decision, the mother reportedly screamed:

“That is so f****d up.

I’m so f****g mad.”

She continued screamed in anguish as the Summit County sheriff’s deputy put handcuffs on her wrists.

Williams has two other children with Parker. She was hoping for probation, not jail time.

Akron Police

Her mother, Angela Williams, said her daughter is a good mom who made “one bad decision” and has suffered enough for it:

“We need to heal as a family and not be pulled apart with her being gone from her kids and her family.”

Assistant Prosecutor Dan Sallerso, however, pointed out that the toddler’s death was preventable. He argued in court that police had been called to the couple’s house before because their children were outside unsupervised.

On the morning of Wynter’s death, Parker was apparently up all night, and the family had breakfast together.

As previously reported by Dearly, it’s a dangerous situation to leave a child unattended in freezing temperatures. In recent months there have been several reports of unattended children accidentally being left outside in cold temperatures.

Parker received a two-year prison sentence, while Williams received 18 months after pleading guilty to child endangerment in November 2018.

They got off light. Should have been 20 years minimum. Is it ok to let your kid freeze to death outside because you can’t be bothered to keep track of them? Do the doors have locks? FFS people.

    • Anonymous 2 years ago

Yes, doors have locks and kids can undo them. I didn’t know my 2 year could unlock the doors until I came from the laundry room and everything was quiet. He had unlocked the front door. I grabbed him and headed to walmart to get child proof door locks. They might not have known she could do that.

They said the police have been called numerous times for the children being outside unsupervised so yes I am sure she knew that. She is irresponsible and a child is DEAD. She is f-ing mad cause she is going to jail??? Seriously.

  • Olivia Parkey 2 years ago

This was just right out Dam wrong for the mother to be charged. I don’t care how many times the cops went to their house first of she wasn’t even home she was out with they other child. So he should be the one paying for his child’s death not the mother. The judge was wrong for her decision making but looking at the verdict she’s white and they both are black there wasn’t any justice served on the mothers side. All of this was done outta hate and color wise.

    • Jennifer 2 years ago

Of course someone always has to go there……trying to turn everything that they don’t agree with into a race issue. Racism won’t/can’t stop because clearly people won’t ever let it go.

    • Anonymous 2 years ago

      Blaming Whitey again huh?

    • Anonymous 2 years ago

ummm because she left her child with an adult who was sleeping. Does that make more sense or is that common practice where you are from? To leave a very young child with a sleeping adult?

    • Jennifer Smith 2 years ago

If she wasn’t the one there the previous times, she is still responsible for leaving little Wynter with the person who was there. She should not have left the baby home with an adult who was sleeping, since the baby was mobile. If they’ve had calls for the kids being outside unsupervised previously, then precautions should have been taken to prevent the child from getting outside.

I hope color didn’t play a role here. I do agree the mother should not of be changed. The Dad was the one watching the little girl. I think very sad situation.
Hope the lady gets out very early.

    • Anonymous 2 years ago

So, you think just because some black parents (like any other race) are neglective parents, it’s okay if their baby dies because of it?

    • Anonymous 2 years ago

Story does not say he was alseep when she went out, just says child got out while he was asleep. would need more information as to his cognitive state when mom went out. before I passed judgement on moms guilt in this case.

    • Lover of books 2 years ago

Are you seriously making this about RACE. A child is DEAD. Who cares what race the parents and child are. Stop with everything being about race.

    • Drae 2 years ago

That comment is ridiculous. If it was about race then both parents would have 20 year sentences. Instead they got off rather lightly for their negligence.

    • Anonymous 2 years ago

Why must everything be racist ! It was clearly a matter of child neglect on BOTH of them ! You can’t use your skin color as an excuse for sorry ass thing that happens !

  • Anonymous 2 years ago

Irresponsible persons should be prevented from having children. He should be forced to have vasectomy after first child for whom he is unable to care for and she should have Norplant inserted (is that still available?) or some other form of effective birth control that doesn’t require her to be responsible for taking as prescribed. Why would this woman stay with this loser and keep producing children?

  • doug 2 years ago

how is it the moms fault if she wasn’t there?

    • Robert Miles 2 years ago

NOT being there is this mom’s fault.

      • Anonymous 2 years ago

do people not even fucking read the articles they comment on??

        • Lori 2 years ago

It does not say she left her while he was sleeping, it says she wandered outside while her dad was asleep. It does not say whether the dad was awake or asleep when the mother left.

          • Darlene 2 years ago

Yes, they had breakfast together as a family. He probably went to sleep after the mother left.

  • Thomas Ianello 2 years ago

I also believe that Williams shouldn’t have had to serve any time, nor probation as she wasn’t even home!

The article stated that Parker was up all night and had breakfast with his family. So does that mean that he had breakfast with only one child while Wynter was outside freezing to death? Remember Williams had their 4 year old with her not at home.

Or was Williams also having breakfast with Parker and 2 of their children?

Something doesn’t add up, especially getting 18 months for something she didn’t even have control over.

I hate when the writers of stories like this can’t even get the facts straight so people can’t make out what really happened.

For me, color has absolutely nothing to do with this story. I’m a white male in his 50’s and I didn’t even see any “color” throughout this story.

    • Anonymous 2 years ago

      • Anonymous 2 years ago

Where exactly does it say that. I read the article several times and it said the child wandered outside while her dad was sleeping NOT that the mom left the child with her dad while he was sleeping.

  • Hector Jr 2 years ago

I am not seeing how the mom is charged with a crime when she was not at home where the child was under the supervision of another adult. He is guilty of neglect. She should appeal this verdict.

  • Anonymous 2 years ago

Ultimately the mother in this case is the legal guardian of this child, so let this be a warning to all you moms who let your children with someone who abuses or neglects your child in any way. You as the legal guardian are responsible to make sure whoever is watching your child is actually doing that, not sleeping and not drugged up. These people were guilty of neglect prior and they were warned.

    • Sheila M. Gale 2 years ago

That was the child’s father, so he is a legal guardian as well. And when did it become criminal to leave your child with their father while you take care of a situation with a second child. All of you that are saying she was the guardian, get out of the stone age. She was not there and thought she was leaving her child with someone who would watch her.

      • Anonymous 2 years ago

Check what legal guardian really means. Being a parent doesn’t make you automatically a legal guardian. Please watch the video of the judge talking to the parents. Excellent. This little girl lost her life because of what the judge explains. Very sad. It becomes criminal when you leave your child knowing the father was up all night doing his music as a hobby and going to be sleeping all day. If you listen to the judge she gave concern that many neighbors complained about their kids coming to their doors not knowing where their home was. This little precious girl lost her life! That’s not the Stone Age. That is a fact!

    • Anonymous 2 years ago

Why is the mother more the legal guardian than the father?

  • Anonymous 2 years ago

Wait a second …. the mom leaves her daughter with her boyfrend WHILE she is out with their other kid and returns home to find her daughter frozen – AND IT IS HER FAULT….. really ?

    From the article:
“Tierra Williams, 23, told police she left her 2-year-old daughter Wynter Parker with Dariaun Parker, 25, while she was out with the couple’s 4-year-old son in Akron, Ohio.”

  • Melissa 2 years ago

The mother should not be charged..except that she plead guilty…probably to get the shortest amount of jail time but regardless she has other children and she lost her daughter because of someone else’s negligence. I’m sure loosing her child is more than enough to learn that hard lesson. To anyone on here who says the mother should be charged..obviously doesn’t have children and is obviously without any human traits which means your a perfect “robot”. Raising children is a learning experience for both the parents and the children. We all….as parents make mistakes. She entrusted leaving her child with someone she had more than likely left her child with before and her daughter woke up and managed to get outside tragically. Mothers have a huge job and if you have more than one child it is even bigger and even harder and even though that is..we still CAN NOT DO IT ALL! We still have to leave the house and run errands and cook and wash clothes and buy groceries and take out the trash and fold clothes and get our kids ready for school and pack lunches and dust and clean out the refrigerator and mow the grass and help with homework and vacuum..ect..ect..she wasn’t there and so she wasn’t at fault..if there were no obvious physical signs of abuse then she should not be charged. Period her other babies need her. If you don’t have at least 2 children and have never had to deal with a child that is an escape artist then your “opinion” does NOT matter!

    • Anonymous 2 years ago

LISTEN & READ ! The children have been left unsupervised on at least 4or 5 other occasions !
When they tried to get either parent to the door they had to knock and knock and knock to get an adult to the door ! The mother was charged because there is a history of neglect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Me 2 years ago

The mother is the guardian of the children… period. So be warned by this situation. Because… As such… it is her responsibility to make sure the person is alert enough to care for a small child. He was up all night so he wasn’t a viable candidate for babysitting. It is a sad situation all the way around though.

    • Anonymous 2 years ago

He was not a babysitter, he was the child’s father.

      • Anonymous 2 years ago

Doesn’t matter if he won the father of the year award. Watch the video. Judge explains all.

    • Anonymous 2 years ago

The mother is the gaudian of the children… Period???? Really???? Also, a parent does not babysit. It’s called parenting.

  • Anonymous 2 years ago

The article never said the dad was asleep when the mom left. He could have fallen asleep later.

  • Diana Hudson 2 years ago

Wasn’t first time the children weren’t supervised properly. And race has nothing to do with it. My son at age 2 could unlock the door. We put a chain lock on the door where he couldn’t reach it.

  • Ziggy89 2 years ago

There’s no indication that the father was asleep when the mother left the child with him.

From the article he “lost track of Wynter”. It sounds like some of you need to read what an article says vs what you THINK it says

“As the Akron Beacon Journal reports, Tierra Williams, 23, told police she left her 2-year-old daughter Wynter Parker with Dariaun Parker, 25, while she was out with the couple’s 4-year-old son in Akron, Ohio.

Williams, who was pregnant at the time, said she was gone for about two hours when Parker lost track of Wynter.

According to court documents, the little girl wandered outside while her dad was asleep. She was later found by her mom “frozen” and unresponsive on a frigid February day.

The mother immediately wrapped the girl with blankets and called 911″9

    • Anonymous 2 years ago

Not the first time. Watch the video and the judge explains. This couple reminds me of the Amish. They have these kids, never watch them and some are killed on the farms or seriously injured and they cry when something tragic occurs. What do you expect leaving babies and toddlers and children do their own thing while you sleep or you are not supervising them!

  • Angie 2 years ago

The article isn’t very clear. Was the father sleeping when the mother left the child with him? If he was then yes she was neglegant. If he was awake when she left the he is completely to blame and she should not be charged at all.

  • Jean 2 years ago

The article stated,Dad had been up all night. Mom should’ve known not to leave child with someone that would OBVIOUSLY be getting sleepy.

  • Anonymous 2 years ago

I just watched the entire sentencing the judge stated that when Wynter was 1 she and her brother who was only about 2 were outside there house with diapers off. Knocking on neighbors doors. Neighbor went to their house no one answered. They finally pounded on the door then someone came. This was not the first time. Both should of been charged. Judge got it right and NOT because they are black but because they caused their child’s death.

  • Dennis 2 years ago

Accountable for your actions. Responsible parents. When having children is not a I I I thing it’s a “we” are raising child together.
Both share responsibility. Why didn’t she call the father to check on her kids?? She is responsible for leaving her children with a tired father.”Acountable” for your choice to leave child with tired father.Hello wake up parents!! I feel so sorry for that little girl wtf he couldn’t find her? He should have called mother right then and she should have been available 24/7.Theres negligence on both parents! The judge got this right.I think they got off easy. What price is a child’s life?? Your answer will determine the value of life. May God Bless That little priceless little girl in heaven.

  • Ariane 2 years ago

First of all it does bother me that they are able to blame the mom because the dad went to sleep but the only reason it bothers me because if it was the other way around would they blame him for the mother going to sleep. With that being said I have kids and in my mind if I have to leave them I think of every situation and if my husband had been up all night I would absolutely know that he would probably fall asleep And my kid could be in danger that’s what a mother does so for all the people saying she shouldn’t be charged she shouldn’t had kids if that’s the logic I don’t think she done anything on purpose but I think she didn’t think of her children the way your mom is supposed to there’s a post to think of everything because two-year-olds can’t and they can’t protect their selves

  • Ariane 2 years ago

Wow shouldn’t have used the voice recording to write out my comment. Sorry for the many mistakes lol

  • Cara 2 years ago

Did I really just see a comment complaining about a parent sleeping while their child was awake?!?!?! Wtf. Do you have children? Is there a device I don’t know about that will wake a parent every time their children wake before the parent does???
I hate seeing people act like they’re a perfect parent judging other parents who have tragically, ACCIDENTALLY, lost their child!!!
Be careful judging like that. You reap what you sow. God forbid that anything ever happen to your child and you have to deal with the trauma of loosing a child, the guilt that will haunt you the rest of your lives, and judgment from all the perfect people while you’re being torn from the rest of your family and sitting in a cell!

This is sad n that’s the only fact fuck the parents a child is dead n she died a horrible death can anyone here imagine. Dying from cold weather close ur eyes n put urself in that child’s place n you will then stop worrying about the parents n think of the child n keep the negativity off the comments n stop judging so much cause in the blink of an eye that could have been one of us
