Jordan Cooper went missing from her home on November 25, 2017.
Though 25 years old, Jordan had the mental capacity of a young teenager, according to reports.
Cooper’s mother has been pleading for her daughter’s safe return ever she mysteriously went missing. As News 4 Jax reports, Dawn Renee Cooper started posting Facebook messages on November 26 and 27 asking people who knew Jordan to help find her daughter. Cooper then notified Clay County Florida Sheriff’s Office.
In an interview with News 4 Jax at the time, Jordan’s grandmother Sharon Cooper said: “I don’t see her running away. She’s really reclusive. I don’t see her going away on her own will. I don’t think she’s a runaway at all. I think for whatever reason somebody took her.”
Deputies reportedly searched the home Jordan shared with her mother but did not find anything. According to sources, Cooper left the home during the investigation and stayed at her boyfriend’s while the search for Jordan was underway.
When Cooper returned on December 9, she noticed a foul odor in the home. Cooper alerted the authorities, who traced the smell to the attic above the garage of the home. Jordan’s body was found “fully encased” in the insulation, according to News 4 Jax.
Sources reportedly told News 4 Jax that Jordan’s remains were not visible through the insulation and explained that investigators were led to her body by the odor. According to WTLV, Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels confirmed a body was found “very concealed” in Cooper’s home. Authorities suspect foul play.
As News 4 Jax reports, investigators are working to determine how long the young woman’s body was “hidden” in the home as she wasn’t discovered for two weeks after she went missing.
In a Facebook post that has since been removed, according to News 4 Jax, Jordan’s mother reportedly wrote:
I’m very thankful to have so many people who care and are concerned… I have NO answers to anything right now. I will be spending my time concentrating on taking care of Jordan one LAST time in her PRECIOUS LIFE. I will no longer be able to SEE her or HOLD her to say GOODBYE. So, I ask all of you out of RESPECT for HER to continue to pray and remember her the way she was, LOVING, CARING, KINDHEARTED, even to people that weren’t. There is NO LOVE like a MOTHER’S LOVE and when something that PRECIOUS is taken from you it makes a part of you NO longer COMPLETE inside. But she now has her ANGEL WINGS and is FREE to fly… I LOVE YOU JORDAN and I will NEVER leave you. I will FOREVER be with you in your hearT. LOVE YOUR MOM!!!
The family had offered a $10,000 reward for any information that led them to Jordan.
According to First Coast News, Jordan’s family has said their loved one will undergo an autopsy. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
