Carri Norris, a mother of four, died while prematurely giving birth to her daughter five days before Christmas.

According to WJW, the family is from Louisville, Ohio. Carri’s husband, Michael Norris, is the principal of Louisville Elementary School. Carri was the freshman girls’ volleyball coach at Louisville High School. According to the family’s GoFundMe page, the death was unexpected. A friend of the family, Andy Shook started the page to help the Norrises pay for funeral costs.

People have been donating funds from all over the world in order to help the family cope with their heartbreaking loss. The goal was $75,000, but has been raised to $125,000 because of the outpouring of support. At the time this article was published, the total was at $118,162.

Shook wrote on the GoFundMe page:

There is no way anyone could have been prepared emotionally or financially for what they have experienced. We don’t expect there is anything we can do to fill the emotional void. The least we could do is help ease the financial burden of a funeral that wasn’t supposed to happen. … Such a tragic event could not have happened to a sweeter, kinder family and our hearts go out to the Norris and Hostetler families.

According to her obituary, Carri was 37 years old. The newborn has not yet been released from the hospital.
