On January 3, Texas mom Kimaria Nelson, 24, was home with her three children when her boyfriend allegedly went on a fatal rampage.
Her boyfriend, 27-year-old, Junaid Mehmood, is accused of killing his girlfriend’s two daughters and son, 5-year-old Angela, 2-year-old Prince, and 2-month-old Ashanti, WPVI reports. He was the father of Nelson’s youngest child.
The mother was left with a gunshot wound to the head but survived the attack.
Mehmood called police shortly after the attack and allegedly told them, “I killed my family.” He also posted an apology on Facebook. It read:
Im sorry…I was a great man to everyone.. I do apologize. Ohh and thanks for firing me. Sorry to my family and my girlfriend family. And mast of all sorry to Queen Kimaria Nelson
He was found “distraught” in Clear Lake and arrested about five hours after the bodies were discovered.
Nelson was rushed to the hospital for her injuries and underwent surgery. She is currently listed in stable condition.
However, her family said they haven’t informed her about the death of her children three weeks ago, ABC7 reports.
Taurus Nelson, her father, said that he doesn’t want to slow her steady recovery by delivering the shocking news.
She is being treated at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where her dad said she is working to breathe and speak on her own.
Mehmood confessed to killing the children by stabbing them in the heart with a screwdriver, according to the Houston Chronicle.
He has been charged with capital murder of multiple people, capital murder of a child under 10 years old, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
That means he may face the death penalty if convicted. Mehmood has a past record that includes domestic violence charges.
He was denied bail on all three current charges and remains behind bars.
It’s unclear when Nelson’s family intends to tell her the devastating news. For now, they are helping her recover.
