Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner met and fell in love in one of most unconventional ways.
In 2014, the pair met on the hit television show “Married at First Sight,” and they’ve been together ever since.
The couple decided to start a family, but unfortunately, things took a devastating turn when Jamie suffered a miscarriage four months into her pregnancy.
She shared details of their loss on her blog, revealing that her baby was a boy:
Please pray for Doug, me, and our family. More importantly, pray for our little baby Hehner. I know he is up in heaven and I am sure he is bouncing on clouds, but selfishly I wish he was still bouncing in my belly. I’ll never get to see this Angel again on earth. He was given to us so graciously by God, and then God took him away way too early. My heart hurts so bad. Losing our baby has been the most terrible experience. I wish no one would ever have to endure this.
Nearly a year after losing their son, the couple was ready to try for another baby.
The good news was revealed in People magazine when the couple announced they were expecting a little girl!
And on August 22 at 5:24 a.m., Henley Grace Hehner was born.
While the couple continues to lavish love on their newborn daughter, Henley’s brother in heaven remains close to their hearts and on their minds.
According to US Weekly, a touching tribute to their son, Jonathan, hangs in Henley’s nursery (emphasis added):
My sister’s mother in law made me these beautiful, golden angel wings as a little something to have in Henley’s room as a sign that her big brother is always with her watching over her and protecting her. They will be hanging on the wall next to her crib.
She added that finding out they were pregnant with Henley on Jonathan’s due date was a sign:
…this baby is a gift from God and her big brother up in heaven watching over her and protecting her, so of course we included him.
As the young couple navigates parenthood with daughter Henley, there’s no doubt Jonathan will always remain an important part of the family.
