On Sunday night, a gunman opened fire into a crowd of 30,000 people attending a music festival in Las Vegas. According to reports, Stephen Paddock fired what may have been an automatic weapon from the 32nd floor of a nearby Mandalay Bay hotel room and killed more than 50 people.
As of Monday afternoon, 58 people are dead, including the shooter, and more than 500 are injured. The tragic incident is now being called the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
Now, while reports of the devastation and loss continue to roll in, concertgoers’ accounts of what went on throughout the onslaught of gunfire are beginning to circulate — and with them are some powerful images.
Fans who gathered to see country star Jason Aldean perform were initially confused by the sound of the gunfire. Moments after the shooting began, however, total chaos broke out. People were injured and bleeding, some dropped to the ground to find whatever shelter they could, and some ran as fast and as far as possible.
