A Del City, Oklahoma, dad had already seen the Facebook messages his teen daughter was sent. He had also seen the nude photos she received.
So, when he caught wind that the 33-year-old man allegedly soliciting his daughter had plans to meet her at his house one night, he wasn’t standing for it.Screenshot/News 9
As CBS News reported, the father, who asked not to be named, found out about his 15-year-old daughter’s alleged conversations with Jeremy Dewayne Gibson through the FamilyTime app he uses to monitor her cellphone activity.
He saw that his daughter had downloaded an unauthorized app and had been messaging Gibson, reportedly a friend of the family.Screenshot/News 9
He then discovered the pair had been exchanging illicit messages.
The father explained to “CBS This Morning” what some of those messages entailed, alleging that the man knew his daughter was only 15:
“He was messaging her and encouraging her to meet him, kind of setting up a situation to where she would lose her virginity with him.”
The distressed father immediately contacted police, who said that they couldn’t do anything until Gibson actually showed up for the encounter. Later that day, reported CBS News, the father saw messages that Gibson was planning on coming over that night.
According to News 9, a police report stated that Gibson and the teen planned to meet in her backyard in a tent.
Del City Police Maj. Jody Suit explained that the father then messaged Gibson pretending to be his daughter to confirm that he was still planning on coming over that night:
“The father took it upon himself to contact this individual and, just as her, and say, ‘Are you still coming tonight?’ And he said he was.”
When Gibson showed up at 12:30 a.m. that night in the backyard, he was met with a rude awakening. The teen’s father and three family members ambushed him and tackled him to the ground, restraining him with zip ties until police arrived.
A grown woman then popped out of the same tent in which Gibson planned on meeting the teen.

According to CBS News, when the father was asked if he had any reservations about executing the plan without serious bodily harm to anyone involved, he said:
“The thought did cross my mind, yes, very much so. But the situation outweighed those thoughts.”
Suit commended the father’s actions to News 9, stating:
“I feel like it’s a parent’s right to do whatever they need to do to protect their children.”
He later added:
“As a father, I understand, I feel like that he did what he felt was best.”
Suit told News 9 that Gibson claimed he had showed up to the house to “talk” with the girl, but a condom was discovered on his person, allegedly an indication had planned to “forward his advancement” with her.
Gibson was charged with one count of using technology to engage in sexual communication with a minor. He has since been released from jail on $15,000 bond.
As for the teen’s father, he credits his involvement with his daughter that alerted him to the serious trouble ahead.
He told CBS News:
“If I wasn’t as involved as I am, I don’t know when I would have caught this. And that scares me — not just for my children and my family but for other children and other families out there.”
According to News 9, police believe the teen was also exchanging messages with a sexual predator in New York. They are investigating the matter.
