While enjoying time with her friends in an Airbnb, roughly four months ago, the daughter of legendary basketball player Magic Johnson was injured during a home invasion.

According to People, Elisa Johnson and ten of her friend were “terrorized” by the intruders and held at gunpoint.

As reported by TMZ, Johnson was in one of the home’s bedrooms when the intruders broke in. After hearing the commotion, she escaped through a sliding glass window before running for help.

During her escape, Johnson suffered “severe scaring” on her stomach. Details behind how the scaring occurred are not clear.

According to the LAPD, the two men responsible for the attack fled before they arrived.

On April 25, Elisa Johnson took to Instagram to acknowledge the home invasions and the injuries she occurred that night.

She wrote alongside a photo of her stomach scars:

As women we tend to be very hard on ourselves. Months ago, I escaped from a home invasion and in the process I was left with intense scaring on my stomach. Until now I’ve been so afraid to show these scars, and incredibly insecure about the way I look. But I now realize these scars are a part of my journey, and tell the story of who I am. I love my body, and I am proud to be in the place I am today.

She ended the post with the hashtag, “Self Healing.”

Thousands commended the 22-year-old for openness:
