On January 31, the tabloid magazine known as the “Star” claimed that a source close to Tom Cruise revealed that the actor is considering leaving the Church of Scientology.

The actor has been one of the most well-known members of the church since 1990, making it hard to believe that the 55-year-old would actually consider making such a huge life decision.

According to reports from 2017, ever since Cruise’s ex-wife, Katie Holmes, won primary custody of their now 11-year-old daughter, Suri hasn’t seen much of her father— a fact that has been frustrating for Holmes, the Economic Times reports:

“Tom does not make time for Suri and she has learned to deal with not having her father around. As Suri matures into a young girl, she is learning more about who her father is in the world and about his busy lifestyle as a megastar actor. But that does not make things any easier for the child.”

It was even revealed that Cruise reached out to an old friend from high school, Maryanne Carter, to ask her and others to stop sharing photos of his daughter, as Dearly previously reported:

She wrote:

I am going to ask that no one post anything with Suri in the future. [Suri] is no longer part of his life! If you do, I will erase it! If you continue, I will have to remove you! Thanks!

Now, as the Star is reporting, Cruise is reportedly thinking about to make a big step in order to get Suri back in his life.

According to the magazine, the actor is considering whether he should leave the Church of Scientology:

Tom is the fiercest Scientologist on the planet, but it’s beyond heartbreaking to be forced to cut ties with your child. Tom has reached the breaking point, and something has to give. If he wants her back, he’ll have to walk away from the church, which has been a huge part of his life. Leaving Scientology would be the toughest decision he’ll ever have to make!

However, that could mean serious consequences against the actor, if he did decide on leaving the church, New Idea reports:

If Scientology declared open season on Tom, they could bury him. They’ve probably got all sorts of dirt on him.

GossipCop on the other hand, says it also talked to a source close to the situation, and is reporting that the rumor is just “plain false.”

While neither of claims have yet to be confirmed by Cruise’s camp, do you think it would be in Suri’s best interest for her father to leave Scientology in order to be more present in her life?
