Philippines native Joana Anjo first saw Idaho cowboy Ty Wolfe more than 16 years ago.
They decided to include a photo of Ty inside the box, along with a return address.
Little did they know that Joana would remember the photo of the young cowboy for the rest of her life.Screenshot/Facebook
Joana sent a letter to Ty after getting the box, but he never received it. So, years later, she tried a different strategy to get in contact with him.
In 2013, she sent Ty a friend request on Facebook. She told Fox 9:
“That shoebox had a big impact on my life and also to my family, that’s why I wanted to thank him so I tried finding him on Facebook.”
Ty ignored the stranger’s friend request for months, before he finally decided to strike up a conversation with Joana.
Once he realized who she was, they couldn’t stop chatting.
The two soon developed a relationship over the social media platform, which was enough to convince Ty that he wanted to see Joana in person.
Soon enough, he was on a plane to the Philippines.
Seeing Ty for the first time in person was an emotional and nerve-wracking moment for Joana, who said:
“I was really nervous before I saw him at the airport…I was just so happy meeting him, seeing him face to face.”
She was so overwhelmed, in fact, that she broke down in tears.
Their first meeting was such a success that Ty came back to visit Joana several more times. And it wasn’t long before the couple fell deeply in love.
Ty told Fox 9:
“At that point, we knew there was no possible way she could have found me just out of chance, we knew it was just through God that she found me.”
The lovebirds knew from that point on that they never wanted to be apart, and they eventually tied the knot in a small ceremony in Ty’s parent’s backyard.
The two have now started a family of their own. Joana recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, who Ty calls their little “Wolfe Pup.”
Based on their photos, the couple seems happier than ever — and it’s all thanks to a little shoebox.
