Singer and actress Lea Michele, best known for her role as Rachel in “Glee,” has finally found her forever love nearly five years after the man she thought she was going to marry unexpectedly passed away.
On July 13, 2013, Michele’s former love and Glee co-star, Cory Monteith, died after taking a lethal cocktail of drugs. His death came after many years of drug abuse and multiple stints in rehab.
Following his passing, Michele released her first studio album, which contained a song called “If You Say So.” The song relayed the last words she and Monteith said to each other:
“I love you, girl.”
“I love you more.”
“If you say so.”
In the song, Michele admitted that she thought they would grow old together and asked Monteith how he could leave her that way.
Now, the starlet has found that forever love again— this time with businessman Zandy Reich.
On April 29, Michele took to Instagram to announce that they are engaged to be married:
As E! News reports, Reich used to work Goldman Sachs before becoming the president of a clothing line called AYR. The pair have reportedly known each other for a long time, but only started dating in July 2017.
However, while there is a face beaming with happiness behind the 4-carat diamond engagement ring, some of Michele’s fans are making sure Monteith isn’t excluded from the narrative:
This should be Cory ?? but happy for you!
This makes me sad because I always thought it would be Cory you’d marry, but congratulations, I bet he’s with you 24/7 making sure your happy and is being love/treated right.
I always thought she would end up with Cory. RIP CORY.
OMG IM FREAKING OUT…. IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!! … I just wish it were Cory.
This makes me sad because it is not Cory but I am happy for u.
You and Cory are still meant to be but congratulations, Lea.
It’s too bad it couldn’t be Cory but he’d be proud.
Other followers quickly tried to stop people from mentioning Cory by saying Michele — who has tattoos in memory of him — clearly hasn’t forgotten about him, but that it is time to let the singer move on and be happy.Lea Michele/Instagram
Michele said of Reich, according to People:
“I’m very happy and I think that you can tell. I don’t really talk a lot about my personal life, but I’m also the kind of person where I always say, ‘You will see how happy I am just by looking at my face.’ I can’t hide it.”
Congratulations, Lea and Zandy!
