Co-stars Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga became the talk of the Oscars when they performed their hit song, “Shallow” from their Oscar-nominated movie, “A Star Is Born.”
As Dearly previously reported, fans swooned over how “in love” Cooper and Gaga looked while performing on stage and even began to question if they truly had feelings for one another.
Cooper is in a relationship with his longtime girlfriend, Irina Shayk, with whom he shares a child. And Gaga recently got out of a relationship just last week.
While a guest on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Wednesday night, Gaga addressed the rumors that she and Cooper are secretly in love.
She told Kimmel with an eye-roll:
“First of all, like, social media quite frankly is the toilet of the internet and what it has done to pop culture is abysmal.”
However, Gaga didn’t deny that what people saw during her and Cooper’s performance was love.
“Yes, people saw love and guess what, that’s what we wanted you to see. This is a love song, ‘Shallow.’ The move ‘A Star Is Born’ it’s a love story. We worked so hard, we worked all week on that performance. Bradley … I like never relinquish control on a live stage performance, I’ve done a million of them, but you know he directed this film … so I knew that he had the vision for how it should go.”
Gaga went on to explain that Cooper laid out exactly how he thought their Oscar performance should go and that is ultimately what people watching the Oscars on Sunday night saw.
“From a performance perspective, it was so important to both of us that we were connected the entire time. Look, I had my arms wrapped around Tony Bennett for three years touring the world, I mean, when you are singing love songs that’s what you want people to feel.”
Kimmel then jokingly asked Gaga if she was having an affair with Tony Bennet.
Gaga joked back by playing coy, before yelling, “No!” and saying this of her and Cooper’s performance:
“I’m an artist and I guess we did a good job and fooled ya!”
