Actress Kristen Bell is known for her open honesty when it comes to parenting her two young daughters, 5-year-old Lincoln and 3-year-old Delta.

From breastfeeding to dealing with parasites, the mom doesn’t hold back when it comes to sharing her journey through motherhood

But now, some fans of the star are slamming her after she spoke about her children on NBC’s “Today” show last week.

During the morning talk show, hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb quizzed the mom about parenting moves she was guilty of making, like giving her children food off the ground.

When asked if she’d ever lied about the time to her kids, Bell admitted she’d gone a step further:

“Yes, because they can’t tell time yet. I’ve also lied to them about when their birthday is.”

Bell explained:

“If it’s, like, a Wednesday and we can’t celebrate and we’re both working late, then — guess what — your birthday is on Saturday.”

The two co-hosts laughed at the mother’s remarks, but some social media users didn’t find it very funny, CafeMom reports.

Many Facebook users asked, “why lie?” One commenter wrote:

I don’t understand? Why lie? Tell them happy birthday on Wednesday and celebrate on Saturday!

Another Facebook user commented:

Lol! Poor kids are going to be so confused about when their real birthdays occur. Just tell them the truth! If you can’t celebrate their birthday on their birthday then tell them. I’m sure they will be a little upset but it’s way better than lying to them!

However, another commenter said they appreciated Bell for being “unapologetically real.”

Regardless of the others think of her, it seems the mother of two will keep on parenting her way.
