Kourtney Kardashian’s Ex Lands Daughter in Hot Water After Photo Shows Her Making a Face at Asian Restaurant

Kourtney Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend and the father of her three children, Scott Disick, kicked off the new year with a father-daughter date.

Disick and Kardashian have two boys and one girl together.

On January 3, he took his daughter, 6-year-old Penelope, out to dinner at what people believe is an Asian restaurant.

The proud father snapped a picture of him and his little girl at the dinner table and posted it to Instagram.

In the photo, Penelope — being a typical 6-year-old — decided to make a funny face rather than give the camera a smile:

Disick captioned the photo:

Best first date of 2019!

However, people found the picture offensive because of how Penelope was holding her eyes while eating at a restaurant that serves Asian cuisine.

Fellow reality star Perez Hilton comment on the image:

Racist or nah?

And others quickly followed, agreeing with Hilton:

The problem that people have is this! They’re eating Asian food and holding chopsticks obviously and his daughter is trying to make a fun of Chinese eyes! look people! Tell your kids it’s not funny to be racist!

Cause setting an example is what adults “should” do. But white privilege got some people indifferent to racial insensitivities. I think he’s a great Father, social is saturated. As an Asain-American I’m offended.

Tell her to stop being racist

Thats racist lol

Better teach you kid not to make eye thing with chop sticks.

? Why the F is his daughter doing that? Eating Asian food And being racist???

That’s offensive

So it’s ok to post racist photos because it’s a kid doing it….

… all that wealth, you’d think some would go towards education on ignorance and cultural sensitivity.

im not Asian and that was racist

However, some of Disick’s followers defended the 6-year-old.

Other commenters said that Penelope was only acting like a typical child her age:

Sad people an innocent child pulling a silly face no problem with that. Love the picture xxx

nope, she pulling her eye lids up and not to the side. I think this is a kid being standard silly! I think the focus here are people’s own insecurities by reading too much into something that is clearly not there. This hype simply because of the restaurant they are eating in. If they had been in a burger bar would this be deemed as racist

Are you people stupid she’s 6 that’s one , second what Asian persons eyes stretch upright ? In what shape or form is a father daughter dinner racist

It’s just a kid goofing around.

Some even saw the backlash as a teachable moment for both Disick and Penelope:

When this occurs, you have a beautiful teachable moment during which you can enlighten your child on how such behavior is offensive and prejudiced. The end.

Hours after receiving backlash from the photo, Disick took to Instagram again. This time, he shared a photo of the two of them snuggling on the couch:

  1. Idk but whenever I’ve seen people make Asian eyes, they pull the CORNERS, not pull the top lid. My 4-7 year old grandsons make funny faces by turning their eyelids inside out or pulling up the top of their eyelids and rolling their eyes down so you only see the white of their eyes. I do not know how this was intended but I do think it’s posdibly she was just making a silly face. Kids like doing silly pictures. In today’s society maybe we are too quick to always make everything a racial issue.

  2. I’m with you. When is the madness going to stop. Can I wear a skirt I like even though it’s plaid and kilt-ish looking even though I’m not Scottish? Can I wear my hair in dreadlocks if I want, or am I offending someone? She’s a kid, and other commenters are correct, Asian eyes slant out not up. I guess we now have to “educate” 6 year olds not to make funny faces. Too bad adults can’t be taught not to take offense when none is meant.

  3. Geez people….This is an innocent girl. I don’t think she was mimicking Asian features. I have an African American friend that calls me whitey. Should I be offended? No. I love my friend. Lighten up people.

  4. I’m offended by how big of a pussy anyone is that is genuinely offended by this.. leave this man the fuck alone.. do you know him? No.. just because he’s the only reason a lot of people watch KUWTK doesn’t mean you get to tell him how to raise his kid.. Scott is the only person to Get chewed up and spat out by that Klan.. and not only stay normal but actually appear to have become a better version of himself.. before you feel the need to let someone know what offends you.. stfu.. just repeat after me.. “it’s. Not. My. Fault. I’m. A. Sensitive. Whiny. Ass. Bitch” cheers!

  5. Seriously people, get over yourself, she’s a 6 yr old making funny faces and that one was probably one of many… A 6yr old knows nothing about racism.. They’re “6”.. they know school and playing..

  6. Omg people she is a child! She probably was just being like most kids and never even thought about a race she was just making a face like a thousand other kids grow up and get a life!

  7. Seriously even my siblings and I did the same thing as kids… She’s having fun with her father by making silly faces. Leave them alone. You can’t tell the difference between an Asian facial feature and a silly face. I sure as hell can
