Kim Kardashian West is no stranger to controversy but recently, the reality star removed the first public photo of her fourth child, Psalm, after his crib photograph made many want to “cringe.”
As reported by Dearly, one week ago, Kardashian West shared her first and only glimpse of her newborn after welcoming the baby via surrogate on May 10.
However, not only did fans have plenty to say about Kardashian West and husband, Kanye West, naming their child after a book in the Bible, but the photo that followed the baby announcement stirred an uproar on social media.
Both mothers and baby experts couldn’t believe the star shared a picture with her son swaddled in blankets and positioned next to so many unnecessary items which could possibly result in a tragedy in the crib.
As reported by People, one commenter wrote:
Everything about this picture causes me anxiety. Please follow safe sleep habits. It can reduce the risk of SIDS.
Another person, who claimed to be a physician said:
All that unnecessary padding.
Please please please go pay an overpriced ‘sleep consultant’ to get all that unnecessary padding, bumpers, and blankets out of your child’s crib so they are not at risk for SIDS. I’ve tried and failed to resuscitate too many children that have died this way.
In the photo, the baby’s sleeping environment had blankets, loose items, and padded bumpers.
One expert told TODAY the celebrity mom could be putting her child at risk for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) with so many dangerous items in the crib.
Dr. Lana Gagin, a pediatrician, said, essentially, a baby’s crib should be bare to prevent a suffocation hazard. She explained:
“Parents need to avoid using any soft objects in the bed, and this includes crib bumpers, blankets, pillows, soft toys (and baby positioners).”
