Kim Kardashian West is known to post a controversial snap or two.
With more than 101 million followers, the social media superstar is one of the reining queens of Instagram — and she recently posted a photo that is coming under fire.
Following the announcement for her new makeup line, “KKW beauty,” the mother of two received major pushback on for the brand’s promotional photos:
Some fans are not happy with Kim’s ultra-bronzed look. And they’re calling her out on it — big time.
Many are labeling the look as “black face:”
You dont have to do blackface pic.twitter.com/MLcJ5Hbg9R

Kim kardashian is not committing blackface, & if you can’t tell the difference between promoting makeup for the tanned and blackface then… pic.twitter.com/rn9CqKPm2u

Amid criticism, Kim is attempting to clear her name.
In an interview with The New York Times, the 36-year-old assured her fans that she “obviously” never meant any offense:
“I would obviously never want to offend anyone. I used an amazing photographer and a team of people. I was really tan when we shot the images, and it might be that the contrast was off. But I showed the image to many people, to many in the business. No one brought that to our attention. No one mentioned it.”
However, the media mogul added that she has the “upmost respect” for anyone who may have taken issue with her spread.
She’s credited the entire fiasco as a “learning experience,” and has allegedly made the “necessary changes to that photo and the rest of the photos” in order to appease her massive following.
The Kim Kardashian Beauty line is set to launch on June 21.
