Reality Khloe Kardashian welcomed her baby girl, True Thompson, back in April. But her journey through motherhood hasn’t been easy so far.

Days before welcoming her little one, the child’s father, Tristan Thompson, was caught cheating on the 34-year-old, Dearly reported.

The two eventually reconciled, but Kardashian started facing different struggles. She was having trouble breastfeeding her new baby.

Now that True is seven months old, Kardashian is opening up about how she desperately tried to feed her without the use of formula.

In a series of tweets to fans, Kardashian explained that she did “literally everything” to try to avoid having to switch to formula, Popsugar reports.

The mom explained that she was not only in pain, but wasn’t able to get enough milk. She tweeted:

I tried breast-feeding for weeks and weeks! For me it was so painful but I also was not producing a lot of milk. So I had to pump every time she was napping. I guess due to stress my milk was not coming in. I tried and I just couldn’t give her enough. So I had to go to formula.

Kardashian explained that she enlisted the help of experts, but couldn’t get anything to work. She finally had to switch to formula when her baby girl started losing weight.

The reality star said:

Yes I tried literally EVERYTHING!! doctors came to check, I met with the lactation specialist, I did power pumping, I drink the tea, ate the cookies, did special massages etc. it just wasnt working for me. Once True started loosing weight bc of it. I had to give her formula.

According to KidsHealth, pain during breastfeeding is common and has many different causes, from the baby having issues latching to mastitis.

Reasons for not producing enough breastmilk also vary widely, and Kardashian didn’t clarify her exact issue.

Regardless of the reason, she is likely doing what she thinks is best for baby True.

  1. Every mama does her best to care for her child/children. I am tired of and angry with people who put a woman down for feeding her baby formula when it’s what her baby will eat. It is not our place to judge anybody, much less a mama who is struggling to get her baby to eat.

    • Before the breast-feeding Nazis began their war on moms who chose formula, most of us gave our newborns formula–I have three daughters, ALL had formula, all thrived, had little to no childhood health problems & even better, they happily slept almost thru the night with no every two-hour wake-ups for either them or me. I know many new moms devastated that they had difficulty nursing, meaning they AND their baby were miserable, yet they felt guilty & why? Because the nursing-nut harpies shamed them continuously. Just like anyone turned-off by seeing someone whipping out their boobs to nurse in public is shamed–when it should be the other way around.

  2. At first, when I read the title part of the article, I figured she just didn’t want to spoil her figure ( a breastfeeding myth) but after reading the story, she was under high stress which definitely didn’t help. Hopefully, she used one of the better formulas that are very close to breastmilk and just as good.

  3. I hd the sam difficulties du to inverted nipples! I used fomula also and my beautiful healthy baby turns 24 in 2 weeks! Gtta do what wrks for me and mine!
