You might assume that a long marriage looks different in Hollywood — that actors argue about champagne or who moved whose Golden Globe. But if Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are any indication, a good Hollywood marriage looks just like any other.
The couple just celebrated their 29th anniversary, and Bacon paid tribute to the milestone on Instagram, where he posted a few flashback photos of the couple:
He also shared a text conversation so exceedingly ordinary that it would make any long-term couple smile.
Captioned with just “#29Years,” the text exchange tracks down what happened to the carrot that was meant for soup. (Answer: “We ate it last night.”) Then, a quick offer to go to the store.
Then again, perhaps normalcy is the key to a healthy relationship. After all, Bacon once shared his key to a successful marriage with “Entertainment Tonight“:
“Whatever you do, don’t listen to celebrities on advice on how to stay married. That’s my secret.”
Sedgwick celebrated the anniversary with a throwback photo on Twitter and a note that she’s “still crazy,” about her husband.

The actress has been honest about the things that keep the marriage ticking for her. The Daily Mail reports that in 2012, she told Good Housekeeping that Bacon’s sense of honor was one of his most attractive traits:
“He is so ethically true. He has high moral standards, and he doesn’t lie and he doesn’t cheat — and I find that sexy!”
“I don’t know how he does it, but he always makes me feel like I’m the most beautiful woman in the room — the only girl in the room.”
Sedgwick makes it clear that the spark is still very much alive as well. She told Redbook that seeing her husband still makes her heart skip:
“Sex is really important. That desire is there. […] When he walks into a room, I’m still … I mean, my heart gets a little fluttery and I think, ‘Oh! He’s so cute. He’s so hot.’ That’s literally the first thing I think.”
Bacon has even called his wife a “hero” for sticking with him, although that comment did come after seeing himself in action in some old family videos. He told People magazine:
“Hearing me making these cheesy jokes from behind the camera, I said to my wife, ‘When I look at those tapes and hear the things coming out of my mouth, the fact that you have stayed with me is truly heroic.'”
