Songstress Kelly Clarkson, 36, said she was excited to take part in the upcoming children’s movie, “Ugly Dolls,” because she has two young children of her own.

However, explaining her role in the film to her 4-year-old daughter, River Rose, didn’t quite go as planned, she told Entertainment Tonight.

She accidentally ruined another animated movie, “Frozen,” for her daughter.

Clarkson said her daughter didn’t realize animated characters were played by actors until she explained it. The mom said:

“I was explaining to her, because she was confused, and I said, ‘It’s my voice. Like, you know, like how Elsa and Anna, there’s a person that plays Elsa and Anna?’ And I didn’t get what I was doing!”

She added:

“I saw her little face, and I just saw the wheels spinning, and it was like, ‘Oh no! But isn’t it exciting that you can meet the real girl that plays Elsa?’ I was like, let’s flip this into a positive!”

The “American Idol” winner said she “felt horrible” because her daughter got upset. She told ET:

“I pretty much crushed her dreams. I didn’t really realize what I was doing.”

But the mom didn’t dwell on it for too long, she said her daughter was “clever” and would have figured it out on her own eventually.

Clarkson has long been outspoken about the ups and downs of parenting.

Last year, the singer landed in some hot water for revealing that she spanks her daughter, just as her parents spanked her, Dearly reported.

She explained:

“I’m not above spanking, which people aren’t necessarily into, and I don’t mean anything like hitting [River Rose] hard, I just mean a spanking…

I warn her. I’m like, ‘hi, I’m going to spank you on your bottom if you don’t stop right now, like this is ridiculous.’”

Clarkson received some criticism and some praise for her controversial disciplinary methods but has remained refreshingly open about parenting since.
