Immediately after singer Kelly Clarkson finished hosting the 2019 Billboard Music Awards, she hopped on a plane in tears from extreme pain.

In a tweet, Clarkson admitted to leaving the May 1 award show in tears after dealing with appendicitis all week.

Buzzfeed reporter, Jarett Wieselman, took to Twitter to praise the singer prompting Clarkson to further explain.

Wieselman wrote:

Kelly Clarkson has been suffering from appendicitis all week & had her appendix removed this morning — yet last night she flawlessly hosted an award show and sang two songs without showing any sign of discomfort. How could you do anything BUT STAN?!?

Being that the show is three hours long, and live, this was a pretty impressive feat.

Clarkson later responded to the tweet.

She wrote:

Not gonna lie… I may or may not have broken down in tears after the show from pain BUT thanks 2 all the amazing people @ Cedars-Sinai I flew home directly after the event, nailed the surgery early this morning, & feeling awesome now! Bye bye appendix

Clarkson ended her tweet with the hashtag, “The show must go on.”

Clarkson later thanked her husband, Brandon Blackstock, and other people on her team for all their help:

As E! News reports, a representative for the singer is “doing great” following the Thursday morning surgery to have her appendix removed.
